Frank Pennycook
I am an information consultant living in Salisbury, England. I have particular interests in politics and environmental activism.
politics
Politically, I categorise myself as left liberal. I am a member of the UK Liberal Democrat Party and am an activist in my local constituency party. I support the abolition of the British monarchy, in order to make Britain a republic. By stating such a view here, I believe I am committing the offence of treason under the 1848 Treason Felony Act, which is still in force. If anyone intends to prosecute me, I would be pleased if you could notify me out of courtesy.
environment
I am committed to working and campaigning on environmental and sustainability issues. I have been actively involved with Friends of the Earth for ten years. I am coordinator of the local group in Salisbury. From 2000 until 2004 I was a member of staff (environmental data manager) and before that from 1995 I was active in the local group in Leeds, West Yorkshire. On Wikipedia I have begun contributing to the pages on environmental organizations and issues.
technical
In my professional work I advise on and implement technical solutions for businesses, using free software and concentrating as much on the human use of technology as on the software and hardware. I work mainly with the Debian GNU/Linux operating system.
other
I enjoy, to name a few things, making my own sourdough bread, the British weather (except the hot summers), the humour of Jon Ronson and the music of Jean Sibelius. I am an atheist with an unhealthy fascination for the bible and christian theology.
