Avelino "Samboy" Lim was a basketball player of the Philippine Basketball Association, who, as a forward/shooting-guard, distinguished himself with Magic Johnson like ball handling skills and Julius "Ervingesque" leaping and dunking abilities-- while leaping towards the basket, he is popularly remembered to shift the ball from one hand to the other, and finishing off with a dunk! Lim played for Letran College in the Philippine NCAA and helped his team win three-straight championships in the early 80's. He was a star player for San Miguel Beer's 4-straight titles and Grand Slam title in 1989. In 1990, he was awarded, "All-Star MVP" as a member of the Philippine team that won the silver medal in the 1990 Beijing Asian Games. In 1998, he went back to the Philippine Basketball League to play for Welcoat Paints and later served as its team manager. He was named into the PBA's 25 Greatest Players.
