- It's not; if you look at page view statistics, almost no one is actually looking at this article. You may think it is being highly viewed, but that's only because (for some reason) Wikipedia article traffic statistics is erroneously counting calls (?) to index.html as page views. The '/' can be omitted. look at section 3.2.2 of RFC1738.
