Before working for ESPN, Mike was an defensive tackle in the NFL and was drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1985 in the tenth round, 255th overall. Golic is a 1985 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, having majored in finance and management. According to Mike Greenberg, his co-host on ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike in the Morning, he has not written a paper check in 20 years.
He co-hosts Mike and Mike in the Morning with Mike Greenberg on ESPN Radio and ESPNEWS (ESPN2 as of Janurary 2, 2006). Both Golic and Greenberg are protagonists of a cartoon series on ESPN.com that derives from the radio show content.
Mike is the brother of Bob Golic, who is also a former NFL football player. Among Bob's claims to fame include a stint as Mike Rogers, the non-tradional RA from the guilty pleasure television series "Saved By The Bell: The College Years."
He does not know what Wikipedia is and, on December 7, 2005, made fun of it on the air with Mike Greenberg.
