Washed Up! was the first look long-time fans of Catch 22 got at the band's restructured lineup following the departure of half the original members. Gone were Jamie Egan, Josh Ansley, and primary songwriter Tomas Kalnoky, with Pat "Mingus" Kays, Pat Calpin, Mike Soprano, and Jeff Davidson stepping up to the bat in their stead. The EP included two new tracks, a raucous cover of Don McLean's "American Pie", and an unusual track called "The Death of Your Blood is My Indulgence," a tribute to their label, Victory Records, which is primarily known for its hardcore acts. "Death" had no actual lyrics, simply members of the band growling angrily , and for a while, the band jokingly asked fans to send in their own interpretations of the lyrics. Adding to the running time were several "hidden" tracks from live performances.
