  • Zaker: A straight-out lightning attack that is fired from Zatch's mouth. (Attack)
  • Rashield: An obelisk-like shielding barrier that raises to not only protect Zatch from any projectile spell, but it deflects that same spell right back at the original spellcaster or mamodo with an extra lightning charge. (Defense)
  • Jikerdor: A ball of energy that appears in midair it causes the opposing mamodo to be stuck to any type of metal around, leaving the mamodo unable to attack. (Immobilization)
  • Bao Zakerga: Zatch's lightning takes the form of a huge dragon. (Attack)
  • Zakerga: More powerful version of Zaker. (Attack)
  • Rauzaruk: Zatch's power and speed increase for a short time. (Assist)
  • Barudo Forusu: Creates a lightning phoenix made by Zatch's friends. (Attack)
  • Zaguruzemu: Charges whatever it hits with electricity. When hit with a lightning attack, it explodes. (Attack)

Suzy Mizuno, known in Japan as Suzume Mizuno (水野鈴芽 Mizuno Suzume) [1] is a fellow classmate of Kiyo Takamine. Suzy is one of Kiyomaro's first (and only) friends. She also has a not-so-secret crush on him. She is a self proclaimed klutz near that of Usagi Tsukino of Sailor Moon, and she freely admits that she has trouble with various academic subjects. Her favorite hobby is to draw faces on fruits. She also is in the chorus club.

In the English version of the series, Suzy is voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey. In the Japanese version, Suzume is voiced by Tomoko Akiya.

Kane

Kane, known in Japan as Tsuyoshi Kaneyama (金山剛 Kaneyama Tsuyoshi), is a bully at Kiyo's school, though later episodes show that like Kiyo, he is learning to change his ways. He appears in Episode 1 of the series.

In the English version of the series, Kane is voiced by Crispin Freeman. In the Japanese version, Kaneyama is voiced by Wataru Takagi.

Hana Takamine and Seitaro Takamine

Hana Takamine (高嶺華 Takamine Hana) is Kiyo's mother, while Seitaro Takamine (高嶺清太郎 Takamine Seitar.) is Kiyo's father. Mr. Takamine is a professor of Anthropology (who is currently on a sabbatical in England), while Mrs. Takamine is a Japanese housewife. Both of them are very worried about their son's social ineptness, and both of them want him to become more sociable. Seitaro Takamine is the one who first saved Zatch in England, while in Japan, Hana Takamine is the one who takes care of both Zatch and Kiyo. Hana Takamine appears in the first episode of the series, while Seitaro Takamine appears in episode 20 (although his voice is heard as early as episode one).

In the English version of the series, Hana Takamine is voiced by Leslie Carrara and Seitaro Takamine is voiced by Phil Hayes. In the Japanese version of the series, Hana Takamine is voiced by Wakana Yamazaki and Seitaro Takamine is voiced by Ryotaro Okiayu.

Naomi

Naomi (なおみ) (often referred to as Naomi-chan (なおみちゃん) in the Japanese versions) [2] is Zatch's biggest challenger off of the demonic battlefield. Her main goals in life seem to be preventing Zatch from making friends, beating up on Zatch, and basically causing as much emotional and physical pain as possible for the little demon. Yet, despite the seemingly endless list of evil qualities, Naomi does seem to have a few redeeming values deep down inside.

Naomi first appears in episode 4. In the English version of the series, she is voiced by Michelle Ruff. In the Japanese version, she is voiced by Shihomi Mizoaki.

Hiroshi Yamanaka

Hiroshi Yamanaka (山中浩 Yamanaka Hiroshi) is one of Kiyo's friends. He plays baseball.

He is voiced by Kazunari Tanaka in the Japanese version and by Dave Wittenberg in the English version.

Mary Lou Nakamura

Japanese name: Mariko Nakamura (仲村マリ子 Nakamura Mariko)

Mary Lou is Suzy's best friend. She is part of the choir and is good at table tennis.

Mary Lou is voiced by Michelle Ruff in the English version, and Mariko is voiced by Yukiko Hanioka in the Japanese version.

Mamoru Iwashima

Mamoru Iwashima (岩島守 Iwashima Mamoru) is one of Kiyo's friends. Iwashima is obsessed with aliens. Iwashima is voiced by Crispin Freeman in the English version and Yusuke Numata in the Japanese version.

Yuuta Akiyama

Yuuta Akiyama (秋山勇太 Akiyama Yūta) is a young boy that Kiyo and Zatch meet at the Mochinoki Hospital. He has broken his leg, and it has taken him an abnormal time to heal. When Kiyo makes a rather insensitive remark regarding this fact, Yuuta gets angry, and decides to take revenge by stealing Zatch's book. Yuuta appears in the sixth episode of the series.

Yuuta's name is rendered as Yuta in the English anime, and Yuuta in the English manga.

In the English version of the series, Yuta is voiced by Mona Marshall. In the Japanese version, Yuuta is voiced by Satsuki Yukino.

Ivy Kinoyama

Japanese name: Tsukushi Kinoyama (木山つくし Kinoyama Tsukushi)

Ivy Kinoyama is the caretaker of Mochinoki's Botanical Gardens. She has known Kiyo ever since Kiyo used her gardens as a refuge from the intense bullying he faced at school. Ivy's biggest regret is that she wasn't a better friend to Kiyo when he needed her. Ivy appears in the seventh episode of the series.

In the English version of the series, Ivy Kinoyama is voiced by Michelle Ruff. In the Japanese version, Tsukushi Kinoyama is voiced by Yuu Asakawa

Naomi's friends

Naomi has a group of friends. They are Hideaki (ヒデアキ), Kogoro (コゴロウ Kogorō), Kazue (かずえ), and Yoshiko (よし子).
