A userspace draft is a draft article in the user namespace (see Wikipedia:Namespace) intended to go into Wikipedia as a proper article in the future. You must create a user account to create your own userspace and be logged in to use it.
Explanation:
- Every registered user account on Wikipedia has its own "userspace" - for instance, User:Example/Lipsum is a page in User:Example's userspace.
- Userspace is part of Wikipedia, and its use is governed by community rules (Ownership and editing of pages in the user space), but is not part of the encyclopedia. (The encyclopedia part of Wikipedia is called "mainspace" - eg Lorem ipsum is a page in mainspace.)
- Drafts are typically done on a "user subpage" (eg User:Example/Lipsum).
 Note: be sure to leave Special:Mypage/ intact - it's a code which knows where your userspace is. |
Cleaning up after yourself:
- As a courtesy, when you have a page in your userspace you no longer need, edit it to add {{db-userreq}} at the top. It will be deleted shortly.
