hey folks, talk to me here.

Please do not vandalize my talk page! HD 123321

Thank you for participating in the WikiProject on Electoral districts in Canada. As you know there will be an election soon. So this may be the best time for the Canadian Wikipedia community to band together and write these articles on current federal electoral districts. Based on your comments, and the comments of others, I have put together a prototype layout at the above link. The prototype is not a final proposal. It is just a place to start from, where we can discuss and experiment. Please review it, comment but keep an open mind, and help form a concensus. --maclean25 01:06, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Template:Kylie

Hi. I see that you reverted my edits to Template:Kylie, and I thought I'd caution you about your misuse of the administrators' rollback feature. Per Wikipedia:Revert, "Rollbacks should be used with caution and restraint. Reverting a good-faith edit may send the message that "I think your edit was no better than vandalism and doesn't deserve even the courtesy of an explanatory edit summary." It is a slap in the face to a good-faith editor; do not abuse it. If you insist on using the rollback feature for non-vandalism edits, be sure to explain on the talk page of the user whose edit(s) you reverted." Also, anybody who was browsing Special:Recentchanges at the time or looking at the edit history for the template may get the wrong impression that my edits were vandalism, when they were not. I compressed the template because I feel that it is large and unwieldy, and this had been a problem with Template:Mariah Carey2 (see this TFD debate) and others. So I compressed it to include a link to Minogue's discography article. If you still do not agree with this, please reply at Template talk:Kylie. Thanks. Hello,

This has nothing to do with Canadian politics, but I'm wondering if you could look over the discussion on Talk:Gregory Lauder-Frost.

I have reason to believe that a small number of people have been attempting to use Wikipedia for narrow partisan ends, writing glowing articles on figures from Britain's far-right. This is potentially a matter of some importance for Wikipedia's credibility.

Thank you, CJCurrie 18:06, 8 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

List of countries by number of active troops

You are vandal. If you don't speek russian, I am speak and in the site of russian Ministry of Defense write: 1.01.04-1.286.00active troops , 1.01.05-1.140.00 active troops;Roitr 14:30, 9 December 2005

Your source in my opinion not consistent and in it have not absolutely exact information. I only wish to help to you and to give the correct information which precisely I know. Site of russian Ministry of Defense for me is more authoritative, than a World Almanac. Yours article calling "List of countries by number of active troops", but not "List of countries by number of active troops by World Almanac". It is good to use by World Almanac, when there is not other exact data, but if we have more authoritative resources we should use them. If you will change the page again, I shall be compelled to create another page and call it "List of countries by currently number of active troops". And please it is not necessary to frighten me of blocking. Roitr 19:35, 9 December 2005

Why you revert all the modifications that I DO... I pass 5 hours to work on the article of the borougs of MONTREAl and I discurved taht they have a lot of problem... For a lot of borough, they are TWO pages... It is anormal... If I want a information for a borough, you have to search on 2 pages.... it's crazy. So I erase one page and I past all the second page on the one page. All what I delete on a page is on the other page because I past it. It's more simple to have one page for one subject... So, please talk me before you do revert beacuse It's a lot of work that I do. Sincerely, Orthodoxe 19:39, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I understand. But, Iwill sujest you to inform the person that you revert for the motivation of the revert. Now, Why you revert Montréal-Nord because the official name is in French and not in english.

Polling charts

Do you have any plans to do an SES polling chart similar to those you've done for several of the other pollsters for the 06 election? I would do one but it would probably look better for them all to have the same look and feel so I will defer to you if you are planning to do one. - Jord 13:56, 12 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Quick Stats

Hello, I was trying to think of a way quick way to convey NHL statistics quickly, without doing it in paragraph form which does not look very good. I think I created a quick way to do this, check out the Steve Thomas (hockey). Let me know what you think. Croat Canuck 05:54, 19 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Oh and I completely agree with you that it must get expanded. What I'm saying is I will go through bio articles that do not have any stats at all and put in that quick box. I'm not saying it should be permanent by any stretch of the imagination, just temporary until another user finds time to complete the stats section. Its more meant for stubs. Image:Zamboni.jpg

Hi. Looking at the history for this image, it is not clear to me what its copyright status is. Did you take this photograph and release it into the Public Domain? Another user seems to be claiming that you did. Sorry to bother you, and thanks ahead of time for clearing up the confusion. Jkelly 22:45, 25 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I notice that Image:Danielalfredsson.jpg has no source. Please see Wikipedia:Fair use for more information about what is needed for copyright-infringing images. Jkelly 23:08, 25 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
In regards to your response, I strongly suggest that you review Wikipedia:Fair use. In order to use an image we need information on its source, who owns the copyright and a detailed fair use rationale. Simply saying "promo" is not enough information. If you're aware of other images that you or others have uploaded that are copyright-infringing without meeting Fair use standards, you can help out by tagging them with all of the necessary information, or further help out at Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use. Thanks. Jkelly 01:51, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry that you feel that I need to be nicer, but I am puzzled by your surety that simply saying "promotional" (tag or no tag) is enough. Please trust me in that if you read Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Publicity photos you will see that it isn't. Jkelly 01:59, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Swedish-Canadians

I'm puzzled by that as well, but this IP has been putting them up Swedish players on other players as Swedish-Canadians, such as Peter Forsberg and Niklas Sundstrom. I have reverted the obvious ones, and I think I'll do the same with Alfredsson (and did it on Sundin, captain of the greatest team in the world, ha ha ha). Croat Canuck 01:52, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I will give you that the Sens are the best team so far... but its the playoffs that matter; you'd better hope they don't face the Leafs in the playoffs. 5 straight anybody? Croat Canuck 01:59, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Fine, you like Ottawa and I like Toronto...However I tell ya, those Kitchener Rangers are 10x better than those Kilrea-whipped Ottawa 67's. I'm sorry to yank your chain, I just love to make fun of other people's favourite teams (as long as their not the same as mine). Croat Canuck 03:52, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Yes I concur, Kilrea is a good coach. So is DeBoer. Both better than Quinn in my opinion. Also the Senator's old goalie is much, much better than the Leaf's old goalie. So I'll give you that. Croat Canuck 04:09, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Ouch! Low blow! Actually, the 1 game I went to wasn't even a Leafs game. It was a Buffalo vs. Philadelphia in one of the last games at the old Buffalo Aud. Probably the best game to go to also, 6-5, bench-clearing brawl, etc... It was great, but it was almost 10 years ago in March, 1996. I do think it is time to go to another game, but who can afford Leafs tickets? Or who can get them? Its much more efficient to watch them on TV. Sundin's better than Alfredsson. Croat Canuck 05:07, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I was like 8 or 9, tagging along with my older brother's hockey team who played an exhibition game at the Aud that afternoon. Sundin is so better than Alfredsson, look at the stats! He also has been around longer, been more consistent, and has never had a bad hairdo. I don't see Alfredsson being talked about for the Hall of Fame. Croat Canuck 05:59, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I'm afraid this argument would need to be solved by an impartial third party according to Wikipedia rules. I am confident that every impartial user on WikiProject Ice Hockey will say that overall Sundin is a better player than Alfredsson. That's enough for me. Croat Canuck 06:04, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I got 4 words for you: linemates and ice time. I'm sure Alfredsson has been given every chance to play with the great players Ottawa has gotten in the present in past (Spezza and Heatley, c'mon). Sundin's had to play on the same line with the likes of Jonas Hoglund or Mikael Renberg. Never been given a chance to play on a line with skilled players. Also, Quinn for some reason loathes to play Sundin more than 20 minutes a game (ever since he got here!). Meanwhile Alfredsson gets 22, 23 minutes per game. You also reference trophies, what about clutch? Sundin has the record for most career overtime goals, and is always the Leafs best player in the playoffs. Yep, better than Alfredsson. Croat Canuck 06:19, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I think it's a miracle that Sundin has gotten 12 consecutive 70-plus point season with the crap around him. Imagine Sundin on a line with Marian Hossa or Dany Heatley, craziness. Internationally too, Sundin has done much more for Sweden in inter. play than Alfredsson can ever dream about. Croat Canuck 06:37, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Two more minutes a game: Give that to Sundin and we're talking about top-3 best players in the NHL. But Hey, I'm sure we can both agree that both of them are much better than Saku Koivu. I hope no Canadians fans read this or we'll have a three-way Scandanavian Captain Slamfest! Croat Canuck 06:43, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Hey I love the fact that each Canadian team has a distinguishable face that has been there for a long time (Calgary-Jarome Iginla, Edmonton-Ryan Smyth), tis a golden age for the Canadian hockey teams. But that's besides the point. I wasn't dissing Koivu, but Sundin and Alfredsson ARE better players than him. But I would say that Naslund is below Sundin but above Alfredsson in goodness. After all, Naslund and Sundin have each scored 100+ points before, and Alfredsson has never gotten better than 80. Croat Canuck 07:17, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I disagree, because the Big Line has slowed down considerably due to the injuries to Havlat, and then Bochenski. Alfredsson's pace has slowed down a lot. He needs to get 114 points just to tie Sundin's career high... Oh well no matter, Kaberle and McCabe are better than Redden and Chara anyways. Croat Canuck 07:48, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
I know Boch and Havl didn't play on Alfredsson's line, but now all the opposing defense has to do is focus on the big line and that in turn produces less points for Alfie. Also, I thought you said screw international play, so Redden's olympic nomination don't matter. Ummm.... who's leading the league in points by a defenseman by far? McCabe. Who's 4th in assists and ahead of Redden in points? Kaberle. Chara's just a big lug. Croat Canuck 08:12, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
As it is, we will both probably have to archive just this "discussion" alone, it is has been long. Why don't we just agree that Sundin's better than Alfredsson, and Chadden is better than McKaberle, by the slightest of margins. Croat Canuck 08:18, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Well it goes against the rest of the LeafNation, but I'll agree to that. We'll show you in the playoffs where it really matters, instead of the late-night user talk pages on Wikipedia. Croat Canuck 08:24, 26 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

St./Saint Andrews

Hello -- happy new year. I have a bit of a question for you. I see that back in September you moved the St. Andrews, New Brunswick article to Saint Andrews, New Brunswick. I'm a little perplexed, because it looks to me like the article, and the Town's website, indicate that it is spelled "St. Andrews" not "Saint Andrews" (St. and Saint not necessarily being interchangeable). I'm assuming that I am missing something obvious here, so if you could point me in the direction of why the change was made, that would be great. Thanks. Skeezix1000 22:26, 4 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

DeBoer/Kilrea

Ooh the Senators are struggling while the Leafs are on a winning streak of how long?... Nah I'm just kidding, wouldn't want to start that up again. But whatever you do, do not add the list of players that Kilrea has coached into the NHL onto his page like I did on the Peter DeBoer page, or Wikipedia would have a huge meltdown. Likewise do not post his coaching statistics or the same thing would happen as I mentioned in the last statement. This is just a warning for the well-being of Wikipedia. Oy, a threat? I'm not a very threatening person. Croat Canuck 06:32, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah that was a good game, I felt bad for the Russian goalie because this is a second whack at Canada and he failed again and his team didn't do much in front of him. As McGuire said, he was having a breakdown. Boy, Pogge looks good, so does Rask... gee I don't know what NHL team they belong to. My favorite player from this year was probably Chipchura, with Downie and Staal as runner-ups. Previous favourites from previous tournaments of mine include Mike Richards, Derek Roy and Jordin Tootoo, boy did he hit everything. Croat Canuck 06:40, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

No, Tugnutt was with the Nordiques when he stopped 70 of 73 shots in a 3-3 tie. Sam

LoPresti has the record I think with 80 saves in a game, and I think he won 3-2, this was back in the 40's... and that was all unsourced, straight from my brain. What a databank of hockey knowledge I have, hee hee hee. Croat Canuck 08:12, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Alright I dug out my NHL Official Guide $ Record Book, and it was 83 shots the Boston Bruins got on March 4, 1941 against the Chicago Blackhawks, and Boston won 3-2. But it didn't say who the goalie was so I dug out my NHL Players Ultimate A-Z Guide by Andrew Podnieks (you want the ISBN too? lol) and comfirmed it was Sam LoPresti. This LoPresti guy also enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, and spent 42 days on a lifeboat before being saved. Hmm... interesting. Also I did confirm the Tugnutt thing, and that happened in March 21, 1991 also against the Boston Bruins. In fact Boston has 3 of the top 4 places for most shots in a game. Speaking of records, how the heck did you find the time to get so many edits? Probably from stealing edits from guys like me, eh? Croat Canuck 08:23, 6 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Nicholasliverpool.jpg

This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Nicholasliverpool.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 04:03, 17 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Naming a website that is lacking copyright info is useless, we need a way to get the actual copyright holder. For instance, if the picture comes from a professional photographer, we need to be able to credit the photographer at least. Stan 04:10, 17 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
