Ifrane is a a town in the middle Atlas region of Morocco. The town was developed by the French during the protectorate era for the French administration due to its cool climate. Because of its elevation, the town experiences snow during the winter months and a cool climate during the summer. Animals to be found there include the barbary monkey which is only found in Morocco and southern Spain (Gibraltar). The town also has the king's summer residence and the Al-Akhawayan University, an English speaking private university.
