Yelena Välbe born as Trubizyna on 24 April, 1968, one of the most successful athlets in cross-country ski. Elena Valbe won 14 gold and 3 silver medals on World Championships, including all five golds in Trondheim 1997). She won 3 gold (all in relays) and 4 bronze medals on Winter Olympic Games. Elena Vaelbe won Cross-country skiing World Cup for 5 times (1989,1991,1992,1995,1997), 3 times was second (1990,1993,1996), and 1 time third (1994). She holds records in number of wins (45) and podiums (81) on Cross-country skiing World Cup events.
