Francis Boggs
Francis Boggs, nome alternativo Frank Boggs, (Santa Rosa, marzo 1870 – Los Angeles, 27 ottobre 1911), è stato un regista, sceneggiatore e attore teatrale statunitense , pioniere del cinema muto. Fu uno dei primi registi di Hollywood.
Biografia
Francis Boggs nacque a Santa Rosa, in California da George W. Boggs e Alabama McMeans. Da adolescente, cominciò a recitare a San Francisco in una compagnia teatrale con cui girò gli stati del sud ovest. Nel 1900, si trasferisce a Los Angeles per poi andare a lavorare, sempre come attore, a Chicago.
Lì, incontra William Selig e, nel 1907, inizia a collaborare con lui nella nuova industria cinematografica, negli studi della Selig Polyscope Company. Insieme a Thomas Persons, cameraman e tuttofare, gira The Count of Monte Cristo. Le riprese in interni vengono girate negli studi di Chicago; gli esterni, sulla spiaggia nei pressi di Los Angeles.
