If... is a political comic strip which appear in the UK broadsheet newspaper The Guardian.

It is drawn by Steve Bell. It sharply satirises current politics. Shortly after it was revealed that John Major tucked his shirt into his underpants (by someone on a plane who saw him lean forward), Bell began drawing the then Prime Minister as Superman, with underpants on the outside of the trousers of his suit: Bell referred to this as "the badge of an essentially crap superman".

If... is a series of five BBC drama-documentaries broadcast on BBC TWO from March 2004, each of which considers the potentially catastrophic political or social consequences that might arise from current trends in the United Kingdom. For instance, the first episode, If...the Lights go Out imagined a near-future scenario in which the UK has become dependant upon imported gas supplies to fuel its power stations, so that a terrorist incident at a gas plant in Russia results in Britain suffering a disastrous winter blackout.
