1 Introduction

Hello! Please post your questions, comments, barnstars, and trouts (QCBT) at the bottom of the Talk section. Please remember to explain your barnstar or trout. Use "==" to introduce each new section. For example, "== New section ==" adds a section with title "New section"; add your QCBT below the header. Do not add your QCBT to the Wall section, as it is my section for announcements, apologies, and humor. I will add new Wall posts at the top to make them prominent. Please don't pester me with WP:TOPPOST: I obviously have a good reason for doing this, and I won't let guidelines that weren't made considering the possibility of user walls into account. Also, please don't reply to Wall posts; instead, add a new section in the Talk section titled Reply to wall post "[wall post title]" (replacing [wall post title] with the title of the post), and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for taking the time to read my talk page guidelines. Have a nice day! –Cup o' Java (talkcontribs) 00:05, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

A belated welcome!

Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Cup o' Java. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! Graham87 04:27, 26 December 2012 (UTC) Graham87 04:27, 26 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please do check your signature code

Sorry if it seems as though I've been ignoring you. I've been very busy with work. I will get to cleaning up my signature as soon as possible. Don't worry about it. In the meantime, though, I still have to sign my posts, so here goes: Cup o' Java (Template:Time ago/core)
Hi, you either need to do a basic signature (removing all formatting) for now, or change it now (not later), because it adds 1,111 bytes to every page you sign. This adds considerable headache to any conversation you enter. See also Wikipedia:SIGN#Length. Thanks and sorry. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 05:41, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'm really sorry. I'll manually sign this post. I'll fix my signature by the time I make my next post, but I don't have the energy now to copy and paste my current signature into a document to preserve it. (By the way, don't be sorry! You're doing the right thing by notifying me of my mistake. Thank you.) Cup o' Java
Thank you. Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 05:55, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Cup o' Java: your signature appears to contain templates and other markup making it significantly larger than 255 characters; please see WP:SIG#NT. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:26, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hello again. I've changed my signature to simplify its code and improve its appearance. What do you think (both objectively and subjectively)? –Cup o' Java  talk 03:30, 13 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
At exactly 255 characters it's within the size limit; but there are still two problems. One is the presence of an image, forbidden by WP:CUSTOMSIG#Images; the other is that there is a possible WP:CONTRAST issue between the blue colour of the link and the blue-grey shadow behind it. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:20, 13 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Alright. I've altered the shadow so it's the opposite of the average link color (normal+active+visited)/3:
#21209A
on Wikipedia and provides more contrast for both the visually impaired and the general Wikipedia userbase. I've also removed the Java cup and added a miniature navigation bar. Is it free of defects? –Cup o' Java (talkcontribs) 01:21, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Recent Edit

Your recent edit at Wikipedia talk:Administrators was reverted (undone) because it actually erased a bunch of other users comments in that discussion and other sections on that page. Perhaps it has to do with your signature? Alanscottwalker (talk) 09:26, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't remember doing that. Another user's editing conflict may have been handled incorrectly, but I don't recall deleting anyone else's content. Can you please link to the diff so I can see what I deleted and redo the edit without removing anyone else's content? Cup o' Java —Preceding undated comment added 13:13, 10 January 2013‎
Here it is. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:03, 10 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, none of that content was there when I was editing. I'll try to get to reentering the information. Thanks for letting me know! User:Cup o' Java 2013-01-10T19:33:00
I can't believe that none of it was there. Your edit was dated 9 January 2013, but you removed significantly older text - some was dated 7 January 2013. --Redrose64 (talk) 00:37, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Please take my statement in good faith. Don't assume that I am lying to you and that I have some alterior motive. If the content I removed was there while I was editing, deleting it was just an accident. It is unnecessary to reply to my comment saying you don't believe what I'm saying is true. It is a sign of disrespect, and I believe everyone here on Wikipedia deserves respect whether or not it seems as though he/she is lying. Cup o' Java 2013-01-10T19:45:00
