WinSAT (Windows System Assessment Tool) is the codename for the automatic system optimiser/tweaker built into the Home Ultimate edition of Microsoft's upcoming Operating System, Windows Vista, as well as Windows Server codename "Longhorn".

WinSAT works by running a series of tests, and then rating you computer on a scale from 1-5 (with 5 being the best). It then uses a "special algorithm" (i.e. not an average) to determine the system's overall "Windows System Performance Rating"

Besides tweaking the OS (operating system), WinSAT may be used by 3rd party applications to determine their own optimal configuration.
