Siberia Airlines Flight 1047

\Siberia Airlines Flight 1047 crashed in the night from August 24, 2004 to August 25.

The Tu-154 airplane was flying from Moscow to Sochi. It left the Domodedovo International Airport in Moscow at 21:35 Moscow time on the evening of August 24. According to an unnamed government source of the Russian news agency Interfax, the plane had broadcast a hijacking warning, while flying over Rostov Oblast at about 23:00.

The plane disappeared from radar screens shortly after that. The debris of the airplane was found on the morning of August 25, 9 km from Glubokoye village in Kamenec-Shahtiskiy Rayon of Rostov Oblast.

Siberia Airlines Flight 1047 was one of two airplane crashes in the Moscow area on August 24, 2004. The other flight, Volga-AviaExpress Flight 1303 an hour earlier and disappeared from the radar screens just three minutes before Siberia Airlines Flight 1047.

Between 38 and 44 passengers and 8 crew members were onboard the plane.
