The current Dublin County Champions are Kilmacud Crokes who became champions with a win over Na Fianna. The final score was Kilmacud Crokes 1-14 Na Fianna 0-9. Kilmacud were also the 2004 Dublin Champions.

The Dublin GAA Crest

The Dublin senior football championship has received a dramatic revamp for 2006. A backdoor system has been introduced and the new system will be on a two-year trial.

The new system will only involve the senior football championship.

History

The first Dublin Football Championship took place in 1887, Erins Hope were the first Dublin Champions. St. Vincents have won the most titles (24) but have not won since 1984.

There were no champions in 1902 as there was no Dublin Football Championship that year.

Round 3

This draw was restricted by a rule that does not allow two clubs who have met earlier in the championship to meet again. Therefore, there was no chance of a repeat of a previous encounter. Round 3 consists of 16 teams, comprising of the 8 losers from Round 2 plus the eight winners from the backdoor system. So, it is 8 games and 8 of the winners progress to Round 4.
