Cyclical pattern

Historians from Polybius to Giambattista Vico and Karl Marx have entertained the notion that history moves in definite cycles. Polybius referred to political cycles, Vico believed in a three cycle-pattern based on divine intervention, and Marx believed in an economic viewpoint for history.
