Template:In-progress tvshow The fourth season of Canadian Idol began in February 2006 and is expected to run until late August/early September. Zack Werner, Jake Gold, Sass Jordan, and Farley Flex return to judge, and Ben Mulroney has returned to host, with Elena Juatco as the new roving reporter. The season premiered on May 29, five days after the finale of American Idol Season 5.

The Auditions

Auditions were held in eleven cities in the Winter and early Spring of 2006 in the following order:

Top 212, Toronto Week

In May 2006, over 200 Gold Ticket winners - the most ever - from nine provinces and one territory, continue elimination rounds on a Toronto-area stage. By the end of the week, only 22 will have survived the cut, one of whom will become Canada’s next Canadian Idol.

Members of the Top 212 (with ages and hometowns) who were featured in the audition episodes include:

Top 22, The Semi-Finals

The format of the preliminary rounds was changed, based on American Idol's Top 24. The wildcard round has been abolished; instead there will be two groups of 11 competitors (called the Top 22), of which five each will advance to the Top 10. Two competitors will be eliminated from each group each week.

The Toronto elimination rounds were aired in a two-hour broadcast on June 20. One original member of the Top 22, Phil King, dropped out for unspecified personal reasons and was replaced by Chris Labelle.

The Top 22 is as follows:
