A Extreme Rules John Cena vince il titolo WWE sconfiggendo The Miz e John Morrison in un Triple Threat Steel Cage Match,nella puntata post PPV The Miz sfrutta la sua clausola di rivincita contro John Cena il quale vince il WWE Championship colpendo il campione con la cintura senza essere visto dall'arbitro,ma dopo il Match l'arbitro se ne accorge e chiama la squalifica dando la vittoria a John Cena per squalifica.
