![]() | This is a documentation subpage for Template:R to portal namespace. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
![]() | This template should not be substituted. |
Purpose
This redirect category (rcat) template automatically sorts redirects into one of two categories:
- Category:Redirects to portal space – for cross-namespace redirects, or
- Category:Redirects to portals – for Portal redirects to other Portal pages
This rcat also populates the following:
- Category:Unprintworthy redirects – from the main-article namespace (mainspace)
- At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make more printed versions of Wikipedia encyclopedia articles. Mainspace redirects that target pages in the portal namespace are not suitable for a printed version. In other words, they are unprintworthy.
Usage
- Apply this rcat to a redirect in the following manner:
#REDIRECT [[Portal:(target page name)]] {{R to portal namespace}}
- This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
- Template {{This is a redirect}} may also be used to add this and up to seven appropriate rcats to a redirect.
- Use this rcat on all redirects to a page in the portal namespace from any redirect, whether it is in the portal namespace or not. These redirects will automatically be sorted as either inside or outside the portal namespace.
