Production and distribution

Ritoo Jenjani has done the prosthetic makeup for the presentation of Kali.[11]

The show has been dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, Oriya, Telugu, and Indonesian with titles Shivam, Kailasanathan, Mahadev, Hara Hara Mahadeva, and Mahadewa respectively. The Tamil series used to air Monday to Friday on Star Vijay. The Malayalam series airs on Asianet Monday to Saturday. Kailasanathan airs to-date with high TPRs. The Telugu series airs Monday to Saturday on MAA TV, and the Indonesian series (has been started on June 2, 2014) airs on ANTV channel Monday to Saturday.

The official DVD version of the series has been released by Ultra Distributors, as a set of 10 DVDs containing all the episodes up to the Mahadev-Parvati wedding.[12]

Reception

The episode of 9 September 2012, featuring Kali killing the demon Raktabija rated the shows highest TRP with an 8.2 TVR. Ever since then, those episodes on which Kali appears have succeeded in spiking the TPRs. The show has had two replacements for the character of Parvati. After Sonarika Bhadoria quit the show, Pooja Bose played the role of Shiva's wife. In 2014, even she quit and Parvati is now played by Suhasi Dhami.[13]
