Memory controller

The memory controller is a chip on a computer's motherboard which manages the flow of data going to and from the memory.

AMD's Athlon 64, FX, and Opteron, IBM's POWER5, and Sun Microsystems UltraSPARC IV, UltraSPARC IV+, UltraSPARC T1 have a memory controller on the CPU die.

Some memory controllers are 128-bit.
