Cranium: Turbo Edition is a variation of the original Cranium board game created by Cranium, Inc. The game contains 1000 new cards and sixteen activities, some of which are also new.
Gameplay
The goal of the game is to traverse the board by answering questions and performing activities to get to Cranium Central, where several more activities must be performed to win.
Rather than having a die to determine which activity to perform and how many spaces moved and an hourglass to keep track of the time for each activity, the game comes with the electronic Turbo timer, which determines the activity to be performed and the number of spaces that will be moved if the team accomplishes their assigned task, which, generally speaking, makes for a better distribution of cards throughout the game than in the previous version. The Turbo timer's music and lights also warn the players when time has almost expired.
In the previous version of the game, the teams could go on the fast or slow tracks, but in the new version there is only one path to traverse the board with three Planet Cranium spaces dividing up the board. Club Cranium cards are still found throughout the normal activity cards and allow all teams to compete for a bonus move, but now Club Cranium activities are timed. At each Planet Cranium, a team uses the Turbo timer to choose the activity. A card is then chosen from the Turbo Rally deck. The number of correct answers the team gets is how many they move from the Planet Cranium.
Once in Cranium Central, the team begins the "Finale Rally." To win, a team can choose the activities, drawn from the Turbo Rally decks, in any order. The team gets to keep the card only if they correctly guess two of the three answers. If the team gets all three answers, then they get a bonus turn. A team wins when they have collected a Turbo Rally card from each deck.
