You are now creating the vote-counting page for the first option in your poll.
The text of the page has been pre-loaded with all of the code needed for vote counting to work but there are a couple of things that you need to do manually:
- Replace
{ARTICLE_LINK} with a link to the article (or page) which will use this poll. This is the link that users will be prompted to click on after their vote is recorded. For instance, if this poll ran in the "News and notes" section of the February 11, 2015 edition of the Signpost the correct link to insert would be Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2015-02-11/News and notes .
- Now, preview the page.
- A poll without any responses should naturally be zeroed, and if you previewed this page you will notice that this is probably not the case. You must adjust the number being subtracted—which must equal to the byte-length of the page—until you "zero" the vote count.
