Purpose
This redirect category (rcat) template sorts redirects into one of two categories:
- Category:Redirects to project space – for cross-namespace redirects, or
- Category:Redirects to Wikipedia project pages – for project (Wikipedia:) redirects to other project pages
This rcat also populates the following:
- Category:Unprintworthy redirects – only redirects from main-article namespace (mainspace)
- At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make more printed versions of Wikipedia encyclopedia articles. Mainspace redirects that target pages in the Wikipedia project namespace are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.
Usage
- Apply this rcat to a redirect in the following manner:
#REDIRECT [[Wikipedia:(target page name)]] {{R to project namespace}}
- This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
- Template {{This is a redirect}} may also be used to add this and up to seven appropriate rcats to a redirect.
- Use this rcat on all redirects to a page in the Wikipedia project namespace from any redirect, whether it is in the Wikipedia namespace or in any other namespace. These redirects will automatically be sorted as either inside or outside the Wikipedia namespace.
