Summerslam 2014 è un pay per view della WWE. L'evento si terrà il 17 agosto 2014 allo Staples Center di Los Angeles, California. È la ventisettesima edizione annuale di SummerSlam, ed è il sesto anno consecutivo che si svolge allo Staples Center.
Background
Dopo che John Cena ha sconfitto Randy Orton, Kane e Roman Reigns nel fatal four way a Battleground, Triple H il giorno seguente a Raw decide che Orton dovrà sfidare Cena in un match a Summerslam per il WWE World Heavyweight Championship, ma proprio quando Orton sta per salire sul ring Roman Reigns lo attacca, i due tornano nel backstage e a quel punto interviene Paul Heyman che annuncia il nuovo sfidante per John Cena, ovvero Brock Lesnar. Dopo che Chris Jericho ha battuto Bray Wyatt a Battleground, Triple H nella puntata di Raw del 28 Luglio, annuncia che a Summerslam ci sarà un altro match tra i due.
