Purpose

This redirect category (rcat) template sorts redirects into one of two categories:

  1. Category:Redirects to project space – for cross-namespace redirects, or
  2. Category:Redirects to Wikipedia project pages – for project (Wikipedia:) redirects to other project pages

This rcat also populates the following:

 3. Category:Unprintworthy redirects – only redirects from main-article namespace (mainspace)
  • At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make more printed versions of Wikipedia encyclopedia articles. Mainspace redirects that target pages in the Wikipedia project namespace are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.

Usage

  • Apply this rcat to a redirect in the following manner:
#REDIRECT [[Wikipedia:(target page name)]]

{{Redr|to project namespace}}
Template {{Redr}} is an alias for the This is a redirect template, which may be used to add up to seven appropriate rcats, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page and its comparison page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT [[Wikipedia:(target page name)]]

{{R to project namespace}}
This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
  • Use this rcat to tag any redirect to a page in the project (Wikipedia: or WP:) namespace, whether the redirect is in project namespace or in any other namespace. These redirects will automatically be sorted as either inside or outside of project namespace.
