Improving the Devon and Cornwall County Division

Hello, I am currently working to upgrade the Devon and Cornwall County Division article. While I have the information to explain what such a division was, its background and how it ended, I have little information is either freely available (or easily accessible for me) to help expand what the division actually did during its brief existence (1941). I have been able to utilize a few sources to provide some examples, however a little more information would go a long way to helping to produce a more detailed article. I have identified the following sources that provide information, however brief, on the subject. If anyone is able to access these sources, can you either provide me with scans of the relevant pages so I can further update the article or edits yourself with the information at hand?

  • The History of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, 1939-45, Ernest Gordon Godfrey, Robert Frederick Kinglake Goldsmith; Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry (Regimental History Committee), 1966

The above source on p. 30 (and beyond) details the 6th Battalion, who were assigned to this division.

  • The History of the Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert's), 1919-1945; George Noble Molesworth, Regimental Committee, Somerset Light Infantry, 1951

The 9th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry were assigned to the division. From Google's snippet view, I was unable to locate any precise pages (possibly p. 72) on the battalion but was able to infer that the book is split up into years and battalions, with the implication there could be some detail that could help flesh out the article.

  • The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry Chronicle: The Record of the ... Battalions in the Second German War, Volume 2; James Edmund Henderson Neville; Gale and Polden, 1950 - World War, 1939-1945

While the Ox and Bucks were not part of the division, p.127 makes it very clear that one of their battalions aided the training of the new recruits of the Devon and Cornwall division. There is not enough info on snippet view to gain complete context, or find out exactly what the battalion was doing to help the division. Additional mentions, in the same state, are located on at least pp. 137 and 175, with snippet view hinting at another possible page that it does not show. Again, any access to this would help to create a more clear and detailed account of the division.

Very kind regards, EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 00:34, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • EnigmaMcmxc, Resource Exchange does not normally handle books, so I'm afraid this is a non-starter. I suggest you perhaps obtain the books from BookFinder.com, which has the very cheapest prices and has most any book. The trick is to put the least amount of information into the search field: no subtitles, no opening article ("a", "the"), no author name (or at the most last name only). Good luck!
