"Off He Goes" was a single off of the 1996 Pearl Jam studio album, No Code. "Off He Goes" was included on Pearl Jam's greatest hits album, Rearviewmirror: Greatest Hits 1991-2003.

"Off He Goes"
Song

The story of "Off He Goes" concerns a friend who periodically comes whirling in and out of the protagonist's life. The friend is famous, and sometimes the old friendship can be reassembled despite the consequences of that fame, and sometimes it cannot. Many suspect that the friend is writer and singer Eddie Vedder himself. In live performance, the song has been especially effective in an acoustic band setting, such as on 7-11-03 - Mansfield, Massachusetts.

The single featured the B-side, "Dead Man", which was originally intended for the film Dead Man Walking.
