It is a sequel to the 1990 "surprise hit" Problem Child.
This second installment in the PC franchise did not fare as well as its predecessor both with the critics and at the box-office.
An older and longer-legged Michael Oliver returns as the terrible terror, "Junior", only this time to be joined in mayhem with younger Ivyann Schwan (Parenthood (1989), as Trixie Young. Amy Yasbeck returns in a new role with a new dynamic totally opposite her original character.
It was followed by Problem Child 3: Junior in Love, a 1995 made-for-TV film, with Gilbert Gottfired as the only returning cast member.
There was also a short-lived Problem Child animated TV series.
Plot
Template:Spoiler "Junior" and his father, Ben Healy, move from Cold River to Mortville. Junior becomes threatened by Ben's desire to date again and find a new mother for Junior, and sabotages each of his dates. Ben falls in love with Annie Young, the school nurse. However, Annie is the mother of Trixie--who is worse than Junior in his behavior and equally resents her mother dating again. Then Ben meets Lawanda Dumore, the richest woman in Mortville, who desires to marry Ben and send Junior to boarding school in Bagdad. And Ben now has to make the decision whether to continue to pursue Annie for love or marry Lawanda so Junior can have a mother.
