NEW PROPOSALS

Algebraic geometry stubs

Algebraic geometry is an area of mathematics that is at the interface of algebra and geometry. There are more than 60 stubs in category:algebraic geometry, without counting stubs in the subcategories, such as category:scheme theory. These stubs are marked as {{algebra-stub}}, {{abstract-algebra-stub}} or {{geometry-stub}}, and in most case, it is impossible to decide if the topic belongs more to algebra or more to geometry. Moreover algebraic geometry is a difficult part of mathematics, and many specialists of geometry or of algebra have not the background needed for editing (and even to understand) articles of algebraic geometry.

This is confusing, and, presently, the specific stub templates are of no help for finding and choosing the articles to expand in the area of algebraic geometry. D.Lazard (talk) 10:59, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

As someone who has sometimes spent time on sorting mathematics stubs into subcategories and who has been confused about whether to classify algebraic geometry as algebra or geometry, I agree with this proposal. —David Eppstein (talk) 17:51, 8 January 2017 (UTC)
