Welcome to WikiProject Parallel and Distributed Computing Systems. This is a Academic WikiProject coordinated by Remo Suppi, professor of the module Parallel and Distributed Computing Systems at the School of Engineering of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The first edition of this WikiProject will be developed in the academic year 2017-2018 and the objective is to contribute with the students of the module to different subjects related to this area. This WikiProject is open project and if you would like to help, please add yourself as project assistant in the project, inquire on the talk page, and see the to-do list, below.

Goals

We consider that in an academic environment is the best place to generate and to share knowledge. In this sense, we propose this WikiProject as challenge to the students to contribute to Wikipedia. We must consider that ALL the articles of Wikipedia are written by volunteers who have dedicated part of their time to share knowledge, improve some text or other activities to keep this encyclopaedia updated and with high quality content. The idea of this project is that as students, in the indicated topics, create or improve the contents that already exist and thus all the readers will be able to benefit from it. In particular, you can see that some articles related to the topics that we will discuss during the module can be improved and, therefore, your contribution will be more relevant.

Scope

You must write an encyclopaedic article following the rules of Wikipedia, which you will find summarized in the next section. Keep in mind the following points that can help you to do the job better (more info Contributing to Wikipedia, 10 simple rules for editing Wikipedia)

  1. Create a user account here.
  2. Return to the WikiProject Page
  3. Choose an item from the list, press Modify and register your username next to the article that you have chosen or clicked to 'book it' and notify the rest of the community where you start to work.
  4. Find reliable documentation (on paper or online) that evaluates the information you add and thinks how to structure the document clearly. You can inspire yourself with similar articles.
  5. Do not go right out of time, correcting an article takes work and it may be that it does not end it or it does not work as it should be.
  6. Communicate with other Wikinews through the discussion pages and ask for help when you need it!
  7. Check the text to make sure it is at a correct level, think that thousands of people will be able to read it from now on.

We hope you enjoy your experience in Wikipedia and that when you finish the course, continue helping us with other topics of your interest!
