Salang Pass

The Kotal-e Salang or Salang pass is the major mountain pass connecting northern Afghanistan and Kabul with further connections to Pakistan and southern Afghanistan. The pass crosses the Hindu Kush at a height of 3,878m and is now bypassed through the Salang tunnel at a height of about 3,400m. It links Charikar and Kabul with Mazar-e Sharif and Termez. The pass is located at 35°18′13″N 69°3′15″E / 35.30361°N 69.05417°E / 35.30361; 69.05417.
