(edit conflict)I agree, there seems to a very zealous editor who is adding nonsense to 'user' and 'user talk' pages of various Indian users (including new ones!). I'm confused as to what has triggered all this. :?-- thunderboltz(Deepu) 07:26, 15 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deletion

The reason I deleted it was because the total content was "'Little Terrorist is a short film directed, written and produced by Ashvin Kumar." That's a speedy deletion under criterion A1, namely an article with little or no content/context. Feel free to recreate the article since you obviously plan to expand it. Thanks. - Lucky 6.9 07:28, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stupid things

My favourite time of year is during the Toronto International Film Festival where I can perfect the art of saying stupid things to celebrities! I was about to talk to Sharon Stone but my friends stopped me for fear that I would make a fool of myself again! -- Samir धर्म 08:10, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Little Terrorist

No problem. I find that sometimes, the easiest way to add to an article is to see what links there and add the information from other articles. It's also something I do as an admin when deciding whether to delete articles. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 08:20, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re DYKs

Ya, as Indians we have pretty much had a late start on wikipedia IMO and also we have a lot more to share than many other countries (maybe my POV but I'm happy being ignorant...lol). I've been noticing your DYKS as well and they've been giving me a chance to learn a lot too... btw which IIT did you go to? Keep up the great work! Rock on! --Antorjal 15:08, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

AWB

I have started replacing WP:POI template with the India template with AWB. I noticed that you had problem doing the same. Can you explain to me what the issue is? - Ganeshk (talk) 06:13, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

For the ones that do not have tags, you would use the Prepend function (I have not tried this yet). For the ones that have the HOI tag, get a list of articles using Category:WikiProject History of India. Then use the Find and replace function in the Set options tag, use Normal button, replace {{Wikiproject History of India}} with {{WP India|history=yes}}. Let me know if you have more questions. - Ganeshk (talk) 06:32, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I checked your assessment on Shimla. B is good. Just continue. If someone feels otherwise, they will change it. - Ganeshk (talk) 06:32, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I added {{WP India|class=|importance=|politics=yes}}. Thanks for the suggestion. - Ganeshk (talk) 06:55, 17 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

HOI update

Was there consensus on the HOI project for this? I read Zora expressed concern. POI was my pet project. So I went ahead. :) Will wait to hear from you on this. - Ganeshk (talk) 16:01, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tilak article

Hi lost, thanx for the reply. Yeah, it's an obvious copy. Pity, I didn't check the site earlier. Actually, a user had pasted the whole article on Shivaji page from where it was shifted to the Talk:Shivaji page. I have mentioned it on the article discussion page as well as in the edit summary when I created the article. So I thought the article is authentic. Well, anyway, but you've got a lot of articles to DYK. Congrats on that. I would like to have one article atleast to the DYK level. You know, I've created quite a few articles, but I wasn't aware of the DYK system. Thanx again. While creating a new article, I will get back to you.

You responded to my note on the help page about this conversation on the Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) page. There is a problem when external links are used instead of internal links: the 'What links here' part of the toolbox does not show all the pages which link there (the external links from other pages are not listed). What if I wanted to see all the pages which link to one another? In a such a case, I could not see the external links. 0plusminus0 17:47, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm asking whether it is right to use external links to other wikipedia articles. For example, if I use this link external link, to this random article, then User talk:Lostintherush will not show up on that article's 'What links here' page. The user from this conversation is using external links to deliberately prevent internal links from appearing in the 'What links here' part of certain pages. What if I wanted to see all the links to a page? With the use of external links, I would not be able to do this, so that is the problem. 0plusminus0 18:08, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
See here for what is happening. 0plusminus0 18:20, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for clarifying the situation. It would make sense that if one template uses external links, then all templates should use external links. Or maybe someone could invent a mechanism to prevent links from templates appearing on 'What links here'. Let me know if there is a policy, but I couldn't find one. 0plusminus0 18:37, 19 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

New tool

A while ago you asked me if I had any tools other than my edit counter. I've finished a new one today that you might like to try; it's bundled with the edit counter and should show up if you bypass your cache. The 'last 1000' tool generates a summary of what a user has been doing recently, looking for pages they have edited heavily and showing some random diffs; just like the edit counter, it can be accessed from contributions screens. (By the way, it's another slow one, although not quite as slow.) Hope you like it! --ais523 15:57, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Regarding Amar Chitra Katha

I was going through the questions in India quiz. The answer to Q3 of Round 12, the king who died by a worm in a fruit...brought back good old memories. Celebrity chef

You commented on the state of this article at DYK. The reason I included it was because its lead includes a definition of celebrity chef. Without such a definition there'd probably be trigger-happy people willing to dispute his chef status; so it's kind of crucial. Just so you know.- Mgm|(talk) 17:48, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

G.T. Nanavati

First of all thanks for your help. Second a user has been insulting me on the talk page and adding unreliable sources to make it look like Justice Nanavati is an RSS activist. Bakaman Bakatalk 22:55, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Baka, I if you call pointing out the fact that you were misrepresenting or not reading some of the links you provided there and elsewhere 'insulting', I think you're barking up the wrong tree. Also note that nowhere is there even the implication that the Justice was an RSS activist. Please, please stop being so confrontational, and trying to draw others into discussions that should be kept reasonable. Lost, I apologise for cluttering up your talkpage with this. Hornplease 03:35, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I was misrepresenting nothing. (Of course trying to pull a Sikh riot-Godhra switcharoo didnt work for Hornplease). Hornplease was using partisan "secular" sources to discredit Judge Nanavati, from sites that sahouldn't be quoted. Lostintherush made valuable contributions to the article which is why I asked him.Bakaman Bakatalk 03:45, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're right, and I apologise. Lost did contribute and so you werent "drawing in" others, as I had said. And I didnt 'try' anything. I corrected myself about that [1] with the edit summary "correct section". Any further discussion of the Nanavati article should be on that talk page; I have written you a lengthy reply. And finally, the quotes I added to the article were two: one by the Gujarat CJ, and one by Nanavati himself in explanation. That was not discrediting him. Again, try choosing your words more carefully in discussions - as well as in articles! Hornplease 07:10, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kingboyk wants us give him a few more weeks before he can change his plug-in to work on our project. It is need since our project has workgroups. Once he is done giving us support, we use that plug-in in AWB and run it just like everything else. There is nothing technical about AWB. It is just permissions that I you need to get. Once your bot is given a bog flag, request it to be added to the Bots section of the AWB Checkpage. After that you can use the Autosave check to run it in a automatic mode with out user intervention. You will still need to be monitoring it though. Let me know if you have any further questions. - Ganeshk (talk) 16:28, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

India project banner

Hi Lost, We had a discussion sometime back about updating India banner on talk pages using a bot. Kingboyk is yet to give full support for India project. But we can use his plug-in to work on generic projects like Indian dance stubs, Indian sport stubs etc. I have applied for approval for bot-use for this purpose. I suggest you do it too. Here is a test run I did. Let me know if you have any questions. - Ganeshk (talk) 15:54, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I read WP:BOTS, the official bot policy, and found this, "Usernames for new bots should incorporate the word "bot" so that editors realize they are dealing with an automaton, despite historical counterexamples such as Pearle. The username for the bot should also incorporate the username of the bot operator or a recognizable fragment of it". I suggest you create a user, Lostbot or LostBot, before you apply for approval. - Ganeshk (talk) 16:07, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I checked the request. It's good. - Ganeshk (talk) 18:07, 12 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Deletion Policy

Hi, Lost. Thanks for the offer of help.

Per your suggestion, I went back and did a deeper review of the deletion process. I have to say that it's a lot to swallow all at once; maybe there's room for a less-overwhelming "beginner's summary." Then again, maybe not. I may just feel overwhelmed by the volume of text.

Anyhow, I think I have a good grasp on what the criteria for deletion are. What I seem to be missing is what the content of the page in question was that got it deleted the last time. I cruised through yesterday's and the current day's deletion discussion pages, and couln't find any reference at all to the AppWorx Corporation page.

Suggestions?

Thanks again.

I have setup the categories that need to be worked on at the automation department page. Pick any of the categories and mark that you are working on it. Choose a category that does not have a workgroup assigned to it. Read through Generic WikiProject templates on how to setup the plug-in. Remember to uncheck the "Skip non-existing pages" pages on AWB before you start. Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 06:27, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Setting up the article list on AWB: If you were thinking of using, "Append to Talk", that will not work. Load the list with a category. Right click on the list, and select "Switch to Talk".
