Scope

This project will encompass all aspects of Uruguay and it's peoples. Culture, history, politics, business, sports, etc.

Participants

Conventions

  • In biographies, identify the subject as either Uruguayan, half Uruguayan or of Uruguayan descent whether born in Uruguay or not.
  • Accentuation: In biographies, use accents if the subject him/herself used them in when spelling their name.
  • Spanish words/orgs with Spanish names: Should be italicized and followed by an English translation and approximation the first time they appear in a article.

Goals

  1. To create a body of articles that accurately depicts the history and culture of Uruguay and Uruguayans.
  2. To highlight Uruguay's relationships and/or bringings to the rest of the world.
  3. To standardize articles on Uruguay or Uruguayan subjects. They should have similar layouts, formatting, etev.
  4. To include all relevant information, making especially certain to include the voices of children, women, the poor, people of all races, and basically all the rest of the Uruguayan society (providing the info. is sourced, of course).
  5. To standardize the use of Spanish-language terms, names, and translations into English across the series.

Projects

List projects to be done here:

  • Create articles or stubs for missing Uruguayan articles: buildings and structures, cities and towns, important people (presidents, politicians, sport players, etc.), etc. It'd help to check on the different existing articles for red links.
  • Elevate Uruguay article to feature status.
  • Add content to Uruguay stub articles.

Tasks

List future articles about Uruguay or Uruguayans here:

Adopt an article

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
