- - - - - Digital Opportunity index (DOI) is an indicator of a nation's information and communication technology (ICT) capability, developed by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), an agency of the United Nations (UN). DOI is a derived from a composite analysis of eleven key ICT indicators, including access to broadband, access to telecommunications and access to the Internet, and can be used to analyze the digital divide between nations. It was developed in response to requests from the WSIS process. - - The DOI has an approximately linear relationship with the Human Development Index, a key indicator used by the UN in comparing national well-being. - - Korea is the nation with the highest DOI measured; the ITU's maps show (predictably) that Europe, North America, Africa and Australia are the highest-ranking areas, with Africa being by far the lowest scorer.^[1] - - == Notes ==
