Inputs, outputs and outcomes
The data collected for monitoring, tracking and reporting are based on three types of data:
- Inputs - Something put into a program or project with the intention of it shaping or affecting the outputs of that process. Examples would be time or money.
- Outputs - The direct and measurable products of program activities and participation. Outputs are what came out of the activities during a program or project event(s).
- Outcomes - Outcomes are the results that your program wants to achieve. Outcomes are a the detailed part of impact. They are the results that your program aims to achieve, and are represented by the changes that happen to participants in terms of knowledge, skills, behavior, and/or other attributes and conditions that are targeted by a program. Generally, there are three types of outcomes,short-term, intermediate, and long-term outcomes.
