StartOS (formalmente conosciuoto come Ylmf OS) is a Chinese Linux distribution. StartOS is an operating system which is free and open-source software.

In the beginning it was based on Ubuntu,^[1] but starting from version 4.0 it adopted custom package management (called YPK) and system installer, though the underlying live medium is still built using Ubuntu's Casper tool.^[2] ^[3] Its user interface closely resembles that of Microsoft Windows XP.^[4] The distribution was originally not available in the English language, though shortly after the initial release in late 2009^[5] an English-language version of Ylmf OS was released.^[6]

Nonostante la somiglianza molto simile al tema Luna di Windows XP, il tema predefinito per Windows XP, Microsoft non sembra aver intenzione di intraprendere alcun tipo di azione contro il sistema operativo oi suoi sviluppatori.^[7]

Ylmf OS 4.0 è simile a Windows Vista, ma ha anche uno schema di puntamento Mac OS X.
