Flowbox is a Swedish software company founded in 2016 that develops a user-generated content (UGC) platform for online retailers and marketers. Headquartered in Stockholm, the company has been noted in European business media for its funding rounds and growth.[1][2] In 2022, the company expanded internationally through its acquisition of Barcelona-based Photoslurp.[3][4]

History

edit

Early founding (2016-2020)

edit

Flowbox was founded by Marcus Carloni in 2016, initially serving clients in the Nordic market. In 2020, the company raised around €7.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Viking Venture, to support its product development and expansion beyond the Nordics.[1] Flowbox was also named one of the 10 most promising Sweden-based startups to watch by EU-startups.[5]

Merging with Photoslurp (2022-2023)

edit

In June 2022, Flowbox acquired Photoslurp, a competitor based in Barcelona that was founded in 2014. Photoslurp offered tools to collect, curate, and publish visual content, primarily for fashion and lifestyle brands.[6][7] The deal enabled Flowbox to enter the Southern European and Latin American markets.[8][9] Reports from Finanstid stated that the newly combined company grew from approximately 25 to 70 employees, with a recurring annual revenue of SEK 80 million after the merger.[4]

Present day (2023 to present)

edit

In 2023, Flowbox received an SEK 11 million investment from Subvenio Invest and entrepreneur Jan Gottlander to further support its international growth strategy.[10] Coverage of the company has appeared in outlets such as Dagens Juridik and MarketingDirecto.[11][12]

Platform and features

edit

Flowbox provides a cloud service used by companies to bring in material that their customers share on social media like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. The content can be reviewed and arranged before being published on websites or in marketing campaigns. In practice, brands often collect posts by encouraging specific hashtags and then use the material in product galleries that connect directly to online shops.[13]

Leadership

edit

Marcus Carloni served as CEO of Flowbox prior to its merger with Photoslurp. After the merger, Eulogi Bordas, co-founder and former CEO of Photoslurp, became CEO of the combined company.[14][15]
