In 2012 the International Rabbinic Fellowship (IRF), an international organization of (as of 2012) 150 Modern Orthodox rabbis, passed a resolution saying that, "IRF Rabbis may not officiate at a wedding unless the couple has signed a halakhic prenuptial agreement. IRF Rabbis are further encouraged to participate ritually only in weddings in which the couple has signed a halakhic prenuptial agreement. Ritual participation includes but is not limited to reading the ''ketubah'', serving as a witness, and making one of the ''sheva berachot''". This makes the IRF the only Orthodox rabbinical organization in the world to require its members to use a halakhic pre-nuptial agreement in any wedding at which they officiate.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.internationalrabbinicfellowship.org/news/international-rabbinic-fellowship-takes-historic-step-prevent-future-agunot |title=International Rabbinic Fellowship Takes Historic Step to Prevent Future Agunot | |publisher=Internationalrabbinicfellowship.org |date=2012-05-24 |access-date=2018-06-27}}</ref>

In 2020, in a landmark case in London, a woman obtained a Get after launching a private criminal prosecution against her recalcitrant husband for Controlling and Coercive Behaviour in an Intimate of Family Relationship contrary to section 76 of the Serious Crime Act 2015<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/9/section/76/enacted/data.htm|title=Serious Crime Act 2015|website=www.legislation.gov.uk|access-date=2020-01-23}}</ref> on the basis that her husband had continued to keep her in an intimate relationship against her will. The criminal prosecution was dropped when the husband relented and provided the Get rather than face the risk of a substantial prison sentence<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/landmark-case-sees-woman-obtain-get-after-launching-private-prosecution-against-husband-for-coercive-1.495362|title=Landmark case sees woman obtain get after launching private prosecution against husband for coercive control|last=|first=|date=23 January 2020|website=www.thejc.com|url-status=live|archive-url=|archive-date=|access-date=2020-01-23}}</ref>. The legal team - solicitor Gary Lesin-Davis of W Legal<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://wlegal.co.uk/our-people/|title=Our People|website=W Legal|language=en-GB|access-date=2020-01-23}}</ref>, and counsel Anthony Metzer QC and Adam Gersch, both of Goldsmith Chambers<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.goldsmithchambers.com/|title=Goldsmith Chambers {{!}} London Barristers Chambers|website=Goldsmith Chambers|language=en-GB|access-date=2020-01-23}}</ref> suggested that the risk of a criminal prosecution may prove a powerful deterrent against the abuse of vulnerable women in future cases.
