Delete a page in the Afar Wikipedia

Status:    Done

TL;DR: Please delete w:aa:Wikipedia.

The Afar Wikipedia was closed, and the existing content was moved to the Incubator. Wikis in this state usually don't have anything in the mainspace except the main page.

I don't know Afar, but I'm pretty sure that the page w:aa:Wikipedia is not written in Afar. The language there looks completely different from the pages in the Incubator, which do look like something similar to Somali, which is a language that is related to Afar.

If I understand correctly, stewards can delete pages in closed wikis, so it would be nice to delete this one. Otherwise someone may think that this is how Afar looks like.

Thank you! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:21, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Temporary undeletion request of a spam

Status:    Withdrawn

Hello there! Currently Data Quality Days 2022 is happening and I will have a session on the topic of cross-wiki spam. For my presentation, could you please temporary undelete hu:q:Get Generic Cephalexin Without Prescription Experiment: Good Or Bad? I would like to use the page as an example (demonstrate TwinkleGlobal on the page). The reason why I am writing here is that I am a bit late with this request, sorry about that. I would need the page only for a day. Thanks in advance! regards, Bencemac (talk) 18:51, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

@Bencemac I'm not sure that's a good idea. Even though hu.wikiquote is a relatively small wiki, it's still a content wiki, and undeleting a spam page will inevitably hurt a content project. I can email you the content of the page if you want, or put it in your user space, but I don't think putting it in the main namespace is a good idea.
I recommend using alternative approaches to do the demonstration. Options I see are: a) using an actual spam page that needs deletion b) using testwiki or user space.
Best regards, Martin Urbanec (talk) 20:54, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks @Martin Urbanec, I could find one for my session. I withdrawn my request. Regards, Bencemac (talk) 18:13, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

Merge accounts?

Status:    Not done

Hi, a new volunteer of Deoband Community Wikimedia created an account on en-wikiquotes as User:Khadima-e-Deoband, and I suggested them to request for a username change. They however ended up creating a new account at User:Veiled medico. Can both of these accounts be merged? Thanks. --─ The Aafī (talk) 12:43, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

TheAafi, it is not possible to merge accounts, unfortunately. There was a development in this direction going, but as far as I am aware it is stale for many years now.   Not done. --Base (talk) 13:59, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

Edit Interface of fa.wikibooks.org

Status:    Not done

I raised the issue on the VP and no one opposed it: fa:b:Special:Permalink/113740#تغییرات_رابط_کاربر

Please see b:fa:بحث_مدیاویکی:Common.js#Request_for_changes_moved_from_meta for the requested chnages.

My previous request was archived unsuccessfully: Steward_requests/Miscellaneous/2021-10#Edit_Interface_of_fa.wikibooks.org

Please note that the proposed changes have been taken from the English Wikibooks. If the English Wikibooks can have them, then Farsi Wikibooks can have them too. I'm not a regular editor of that project. I was asked to take care for this change, and I did that as a favour. I am a volunteer and not going to invest more time to look for better solutions. So, let's just copy&paste what I have prepared so far. I miss the old days when you could simply ask a local admin to edit the interface :(

IP editor in pwnwiki

Status:    Done

Active vandalism going on in adminless pwn:. Started to revert manually until I realized they're still actively vandalizing pages. Please block as appropriate and rollback IP's recent contributions there. - dcljr (talk) 13:21, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

Done - as this wiki is inside the scope of global sysops, I rolled back the edits and blocked the IP. @Dcljr: you can also place this kind of requests on this request page for global sysops if you would run into new incidents. I will wait to mark this request as closed in case someone else would like to comment here. --Daniuu (talk) 13:35, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
@Daniuu the IP changed to a new wiki [4] -- Johannnes89 (talk) 13:41, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks @Hasley for the global block. --Johannnes89 (talk) 14:00, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
And I've dealt with the edits to Meta that slipped through before the global block took effect. - dcljr (talk) 14:21, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
Damnit… edits are still happening as I type this. This is several minutes after the global block supposedly happened. Is there really that long of a lag?? @Hasley? - dcljr (talk) 14:27, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
So, apparently global blocks don't apply to Meta. That seems… well… frankly, kind of stupid. But whatever. - dcljr (talk) 14:45, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

SOS @Arwikiquote

Status:    Not done

Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat#A Clearly misuse of access in @Arwikiquote. This time it is not about a spillover of local arguments, like my issues with FaWikipedia or FaWikiquote. I feel we need a better mechanism to stop misusing of access, especially in small wikis. I really feels today is not real, maybe I am still sleeping.--Ruwaym (talk) 13:28, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

I'm waiting about this blockphobia. Issues of small wikis and liberal users better be addressed early, otherwise the basis of the foundation would be meaningless. Ruwaym (talk) 19:52, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
Ruwaym, it was already mentioned to you that you should start an RfC. I do not think any of my colleagues would be comfortable wedging in without a broad discussion to rely upon. --Base (talk) 21:04, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
@Base I feel that there is no result. Opening an RfC while no one cares. You are cold-hearted, you think that everything is "fine" in Arabic and Persian projects. I see no reaction while everything for the access-holders of these two projects is to block the user. Just right now, I could be blocked with no reason in ArWikipedia, Yes, "No reason". Ruwaym (talk) 20:55, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
Arabic and Persian Wikipedia turned to "so-called the free encyclopedia that anyone can block you". I'm listing them. I hope the media doesn't find out, because it really is a Controversy. Ruwaym (talk) 21:00, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
You have to understand that there is no point in discussing this here. Stewards won't take action in such situations unilaterally; they will act by community consensus and the way to determine that is an RFC. ~~~~

@1234qwer1234qwer4 And when there is no community consensus at all? Meta says I'm a prolific article creator there, most active user, and could be called the "only".
So you mean i have to knot my necktie, using a formal language and refering to global and local policies, to "repair" what i calim is a missuse of access in a small wiki? Ruwaym (talk) 20:17, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
