Simple rename requests

edit

RZuo

edit
@RZuo, it was declined subject to your active blocks on en-wiki and zh-yue wiki. Given my experience with you, I do not have any issues accepting your rename request. I believe you are not seeking a rename to conceal those blocks or so. However, I will leave this to other global renamers/stewards as I have an apparent bias here. signed, Aafi (talk) 10:23, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done The chosen username is similar to the current one, and there is no indication that the user is attempting to hide their blocks, so I am assuming good faith. – DreamRimmer (talk) 15:23, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment as mentioned in the header that "Global User Account Merges are not possible". Can you please explain what exactly is required of this request? --Alaa :)..! 20:27, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging @ILike Leavanny. – DreamRimmer (talk) 13:49, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Potentially a merge? Like merging Lucy LostWord into my account and keeping all of ILike Leavanny's edits, etc. but with the username Lucy LostWord.
ILike Leavanny (talk) 21:14, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No. See above among the instructions "Please note that we can only merge a local account into a global account when the global account has no edits on the same wiki as the local account". Best, A09|(pogovor) 21:21, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done @ILike Leavanny: Global User Account Merges are not possible[...] As such, we will not accept any request to merge user accounts as it is technically impossible at this moment to do so. Phạm Ngọc Phương Linh ♥

request involving complications -   On hold
You were blocked indef on your main wiki by Gadir 21 days ago. Please note that renames are usually really complicated or not done if you are blocked. TenWhile6 20:11, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. The user has been blocked by community decision, see az:Special:PermanentLink/7802931#Crepusculum-un_qeyri-müəyyən_müddətə_bloklanması. Best, Gadir (talk) 04:54, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gadir, are there any restrictions on them changing their username, or do you have any concerns about this rename request? Do you think they may be trying to hide their block by changing their username? If the answer is no, then we can grant this request. – DreamRimmer (talk) 05:11, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is no definitive decision on this issue. I don't understand what this user is trying to do... He was blocked indefinitely due to very serious violations. This action will not remove the block. I have nothing else to add. The decision is yours. Best, Gadir (talk) 05:36, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I misread the block log and thought they were just temporarily blocked. I am actually not in favor of granting this request since this is their third rename request in the past six months. – DreamRimmer (talk) 05:47, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Gadir niyə mənimlə burada da düşmənçilik aparırsınız ? Mən öz köhnə istifadəçi adımı dəyişdirmək istəyirəm və gəlib yazırsız ki, bu şəxs icmanın qərarı ilə bloklanıb. Bununla nə demək istəyirsiz ? Hansısa lokal vikidə bloklanmaq global addəyişdirmə üçün əngəldir ? Lütfən, təqibi dayandırın. Crepusculum (talk) 08:24, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Closing this as   Not done. The user was already renamed three times in 2024 + they were indefinitely blocked from editing azwiki three weeks ago. I don't see any particular reason why we should rename a blocked user against normal procedure, while there might be cases where we do this. Not here and today, considering that the block is really new and there is no important reason for renaming (such as privacy due to real name username). --TenWhile6 07:59, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@TenWhile6, I just want to go back to my old username. Does being blocked in the Azerbaijani Wikipedia prevent me from changing the global username ? Crepusculum (talk) 08:23, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
per Global rename policy:
  • The new name is carefully selected. Frivolous, repeated, or inappropriate requests will be declined. -> this means, that we normally only rename one time in six months. You already got three renames!
  • The user is not seeking the rename to conceal or obfuscate bad conduct. -> a block is normally placed after bad conduct, and rename can conceal or obfuscate that. Thats why we normally reject requests from blocked users in the queue (normal procedure). They have the possibility to request it here on SRUC as a request involving complications, and sometimes blocked users actually get renamed (for example, if the block is one year old and the blocking admin is fine with that). But seeking a rename three weeks after the block can be interpreted as concealing bad conduct + the blocking sysop was not really in favour of renaming
Considering both points, I closed this as not done. Please come back in a 2025 (but not before six months since last rename passed!) and request renaming again. I would also wait six months since your block was placed, but thats nothing written down (while the six months since last rename are normal procedure). If the block is considered to be old, the chance is higher that the request will be accepted. TenWhile6 08:50, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
