Recent Update to JioHotstar in India and ownership

edit

In India, Disney+ Hotstar service is recently updated with JioHotstar. JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar merged into a single platform. Outside of India and in some Southeast Asia countries, Disney+ Hotstar still exists. Request to an editor to update the map information and adding or modifying new stuff regarding transition from Disney+ Hotstar to JioHotstar. For more information and reference regarding recent update to JioHotstar, please check Disney+ Hotstar article and different online sources. And also, JioHotstar is now owned by JioStar not Disney Star. More information regarding this on Disney Star article and online sources. ArunavaSenpai24 (talk) 07:01, 24 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

JioStar and Disney Star are the same company, so no ownership change has occurred. Arnav Bhate (talkcontribs) 06:04, 6 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

India-specific Disney+ Hotstar section needs update to JioHotstar branding

edit

Hello,

The “Disney+ Hotstar” section for India in this article is outdated and does not reflect the current state of the service in the country.

As of February 2025, the Indian version of Disney+ Hotstar has officially merged with JioCinema under the JioStar joint venture and been fully rebranded as JioHotstar. This includes: • A new logo replacing the Disney+ Hotstar logo in India. • A new interface and app branding. • Marketing under the name “JioHotstar” in all Indian channels.

Reliable sources confirm this: • TechCrunch – Hotstar and JioCinema merge into JioHotstar • Times of India – JioHotstar merger details • Campaign India – JioStar launches JioHotstar

Currently, this article uses the old Disney+ Hotstar logo and screenshots for India, which are no longer accurate. It’s worth noting that: • The U.S. Disney+ section shows the current American homepage and interface (including Hulu hub integration). • For India, the equivalent update should be made to reflect the actual Indian service branding.

Suggested updates for accuracy and neutrality (per WP:NPOV and WP:V): 1. Change the Indian section branding to the current JioHotstar logo. 2. Replace outdated screenshots with the Indian homepage/interface. 3. Clearly state that “JioHotstar” branding applies only in India, while “Disney+ Hotstar” continues in other markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

This will bring the article up to date and ensure India is represented with the same accuracy as other markets.

Thanks.

The JioHotstar branding in India is already reflected in that article, but it is not the main focus of it and does not need to be highlighted here. These changes are not necessary, per the many discussions on this matter at Talk:Disney+ Hotstar. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 19:45, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
