Please describe what do you hope to do if elected.
|
If elected, I hope to:
- Strengthen community trust by ensuring fair, transparent, and consistent enforcement of the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC).
- Bridge communication gaps between global policy and local communities, especially underrepresented groups like African and Indigenous Wikimedians.
- Promote conflict resolution by advocating for mediation before sanctions, where possible, to preserve contributor relationships.
- Support newcomers by simplifying UCoC guidance and mentorship programs to prevent unintentional breaches.
- Amplify marginalized voices, particularly women and gender minorities, ensuring policies address harassment and exclusion they face.
Why This Matters to Me
As an Igbo Wikimedian and organizer, I’ve seen how knowledge imbalances and lack of awareness can discourage participation. My work - from leading Movement Charter conversations to coordinating campaigns - has taught me that respect isn’t just a rule; it’s the foundation of sustainable collaboration. I’ll bring this perspective to ensure the UCoC isn’t just a document but a living practice that protects and uplifts all Wikimedians.
