Can I interest you in the art of Herbert Brandl? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:21, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
The last three stories were Bach's Mass in B minor (because I heard it), and two women. - What do you think about this nom? (shorter than some others) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:08, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
Today's story mentions four singers which I all heard, soprano (whose birthday would have been today) and tenor were soloists with my choir in Hannover, and alto and tenor (married, singers of NDR Chor) were the soloists in the Verdi Requiem of my choir in Idstein, in 2010. Enjoy listening to soprano in a Telemann aria, and also pics of a hike on a hot day above Lorch. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:40, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
Today a great singer, pictured on my talk twice. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:22, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
Today's story - short version: ten years ago we had a DYK about a soprano who sang in conc erts with me in the choir, - longer: I found today a youtube of an aria she sang with us then, recorded the same year, - if you still have time: our performances were the weekend before the Iraq war ultimatum, and we sang Dona nobis pacem (and the drummer drummed!) as if they could hear us in Washington. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:03, 18 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Gerda, thanks for the continued messages, pictures, and links. I'll reply when I've got a bit more time. Just got back from vacation, and my catchup list is (gestures really wide) this high. Floquenbeam (talk) 15:41, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Imagining gesture ;) - hope vacation was as "high" (mine - at home - is, next guests tomorrow) - guess what, I got an article scheduled for TFA that isn't yet FA, feel so trusted! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:51, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
- Check out my talk for an Independence day, or: the pic of Oksana Lyniv was taken on 24 August. There's listening and reading in today's story, and I like both. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:32, 24 August 2025 (UTC)
- On 21 Aug, we (two cousins on a surprise visit) went to Frankfurt, heard the Benedictine nuns sing vespers and ended at our Rheingau place, - Idstein part to come. My story is about Julia Hagen. A reviewer thought that there's nothing interesting in that article except that she began at age four. I thought that it's the one thing that is not interesting because she has it in common with many. Will we ever understand each other? You can watch the concert that impressed me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:58, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Gerda, I'm so far behind on replies I feel I'm being rude. In no particular order, thanks for the Rheingau reminder, hope converting the to-be-TFA into an actual FA is working, sorry you have a troll inserting themselves into all your DYK noms, and thanks for the pictures. I sort of think my time as a member of this "community" might be nearing its end, but I hope you'll still drop by from time to time, even if I reply at disappointing pace. Floquenbeam (talk) 17:01, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, and no need for a reply, ever. I'm happy about a reply, but not unhappy about no reply, - hope I could say that as I mean it. The user who shows up at practically every DYK, "enforcing" "interestingness", delivered a gem today: "... that the voice actress for Marin Kitagawa said that she would get very hungry after recording lines for the role?"- - I think that knowing about Herwig Schopper and Wolfgang Kuhlmann might improve world knowledge a tiny bit more. (articles not by me, but I made them fit for the main page). I recommend for a job in this community that's needed but not taking much time: look if some article can be saved on WP:ITNN's last day, from time to time. - Business as usual here. - I just returned from another great concert at the festival, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bruce Liu and Vasily Petrenko. Interesting. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:52, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- It's crazy: Floq and me are the only Wikipedians you've met in person, @Gerda Arendt:, and now for the first time in your Wikipedia career, we're *both* not admins at the same time. I emailed this observation to Gerda who told me it'd be OK to post here. Floq, we only had a few brief interactions, but thanks for your many, many years of service here, and for standing up for the community at crucial moments. All the best with whatever you decide to do in the future ... and sticking to things that bring you joy is not a bad idea at all. Graham87 (talk) 17:32, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

- In all seriousness, and you gotta do what's right for you, you've been exceptional. Wikipedia (still) is of incredibly loud significance, and your low-key yet effective approach always sought the right direction, in my opinion. "Wish you were here" is what I meant (and thanks, JJMC89 bot for being effective too). Anyway, I tend to be Old Skool, and so do you, even if your account is eons younger than mine. Whatever. I hope to see you back. ---Sluzzelin talk 03:52, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

editThanks for all your work over the years and being one of the "reasonable ones." Andre🚐 19:51, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- I, too, would like to thank you for all your work over the years. Useight (talk) 19:55, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- And me. I've taken issue with a couple of things, as you know, but overall I consider you one of the good ones. In particular, I'll always be grateful to you for articulating the principle that admins should if at all possible seek to calm things down rather than making like prefects. I hope you ask for the tools back someday. Yngvadottir (talk) 22:39, 28 August 2025 (UTC)

- Sorry to hear you're leaving, Floq. I wanted to take the time to thank you for all your help and advice when I was first starting out here; it helped me mature into the editor I am today, and I will forever be in your debt.
