SEMI-RETIRED

Due to real-life events, I am physically not in a state to be able to rapidly edit like I have been doing in 2024 to February 2025. (I can still respond, so don't hesitate to start a conversation with me)

Question from Kenyadoctors (14:59, 23 August 2025)

edit

Hi I want to create an entry about myself which simply states my roles as a business executive and author of an academic history book. Woluld something like ‘ x was a oil company executive for 30 years and on retirement wrote a book on Indian doctors in Kenya ‘ be ok? --Kenyadoctors (talk) 14:59, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Writing about oneself on Wikipedia, seriously never succeeds. At least, I have never seen an autobiography stay around on Wikipedia. It's worth saying that Wikipedia doesn't really permit self-promotions, so you will likely risk a block (something similar to a ban in other websites) if you proceed with your idea. Question about Significant Coverage for West Caribbean Costa Rica

edit

Hello Alphabetagamma, thank you for reviewing West Caribbean Costa Rica, but can you tell me which 2 sources are considered significant coverage? Thebaldball (talk) 15:54, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but I forgot the two I meant at the time because it has been some time since the review.AlphaBetaGamma (Talk/report any mistakes here) 00:58, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Is it Aviation week and La Nácion? (Costa Rica)Thebaldball (talk) 01:11, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's the one that covers West Caribbean Costa Rica, not the parent company, in depth AlphaBetaGamma (Talk/report any mistakes here) 13:52, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
The source from October 2002? Thebaldball (talk) 01:23, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled granted

edit

Hi AlphaBetaGamma, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! voorts (talk/contributions) 00:23, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question from WikiPidge on Venmurasu (08:39, 27 August 2025)

edit

hello!, I just wanted advice on articles like this, Self published, Primary sources that are okay but middling and excessive. I am just going to pass on attempting it, as it just feels like it needs to be reduced closer to a stub --WikiPidge (talk) 08:39, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Ah, Indian articles. for some reason a lot of them are in poor shape, so that's one way to find an article needing attention. I spot some errors like the "[Kamal deen] 1234" at the bottom. If I were you, I'd probably deal with some claims like this: Venmurasu has received significant responses from both readers and critics, because the only two responses sourced after that (presumed) are both youtube videos, and while the two critics appear to have an article on Wikipedia, one is tagged as potentially non-notable, with the other violating WP:BLP. I usually avoid Indian topics because the language barriers and the frequent sourcing/reliability issue plagues the area, but I can still give that as an advice, I guess. Article idea

edit

Hi, are you in the mood for translating the article on Hiroshi Abe's homepage into English Wikipedia? It is hilarious and would guarantee a DYK entry if accepted. The original Japanese article is surprisingly quite well-sourced. MilkyDefer 13:51, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I'm putting that into my to-do list, will probably do it soonTM AlphaBetaGamma (Talk/report any mistakes here) 13:53, 27 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
