DYK for Burgle Bros

edit

On 14 June 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Burgle Bros, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the box of Burgle Bros 2 transforms into a two-layer game board (pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Burgle Bros. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Burgle Bros), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Draft

edit

Hi thanks for responding to my draft. Could I please have some clarification to why my sources are not sufficient? The previous person who reviewed my work said these sources were good but I needed to work on the tone. I have done so and I would appreciate if you could get back to me. Mrwikiguy1 (talk) 03:24, 14 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Mrwikiguy1 sorry for the late reply. The main problem with your draft is a lack of significant coverage, i.e. sources about the school specifically. Also, just curious, where did the previous reviewer say the sources were good? Because their reply doesn't say that. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (💬✍️) 12:27, 16 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

The Developing Countries WikiContest Gold Belt Buckle

Hey CanonNi, the Developing Countries WikiContest will be returning for a second year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.

In other news, we have a new face on the coordinator team this year: last year's sixth-place finisher, Arconning (talk · contribs)! The coordinators would like to extend a sincere thanks to Ixtal (talk · contribs), who is leaving the team, without whom the contest would not exist. After feedback from contestants last year, the scoring rules are undergoing some modifications; the new rules and a summary of the changes made will be posted to the contest talk page shortly.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). Question about draft

edit

Hi thanks for responding to my draft. Could you please give some clarification to why my sources are not reliable? Which sources specifically should be changed? All of them are taken from websites about regional history or news sources. SlavaFire (talk) 10:47, 20 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@SlavaFire hi. The main problem is not the reliability of sources, but rather a lack thereof in parts of the draft. For example, the "Kharkov Merchant Branch" section consists of 8 paragraphs, only half of which cite a source, while "Legacy" has no sources at all. Draft - Chris Boshuizen

edit

Hi, it seems you are getting a lot of messages but thank you for reviewing my draft. I wanted to clarify the what you said around referencing. How is it unreliable to use those sources just to confirm basic facts like the company’s existence, the release date of an album, or what the company does? These seem like straightforward details that are okay to verify with primary sources and are unsusceptible to any bias. For instance when I reference the 'our team' page for Planet Labs to show that he is listed as a co-founder how is that not reliable if anything that would be the most reliable source as it is primary.

Thanks, again Apple24628 (talk) 24:22, 20 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Apple24628 yes, those sources may be usable for confirming basic facts, but that's all they're useful for. Your draft lacks enough independent sources to establish notability. [[User:CanonNi]] (💬✍️) 13:22, 20 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

AfD process

edit

I have participated in the AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Occupied Palestinian territories and added my comment. I also looked at how other users added their comments and learned from them. This is my first comment in such process. After reviewing the article, I added my comment as Keep. Could you please check if I did it correctly? Arbaz Thakur (talk) 08:26, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Arbaz Thakur yes, that is generally how you participate in AfDs - a simple keep or delete with a policy-based rationale. However, (and this isn't your fault, I know you just weren't aware) per WP:ARBPIA, a series of restrictions authorized by the Arbitration Committee, only extended-confirmed editors may participate in the discussion. I've therefore struck your vote and will leave you a message with more info on your talk page. [[User:CanonNi]] (💬✍️) 12:58, 24 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Read you comments - unclear what I can or should alter

edit

Hi CannonNi,

Thank you for taking the time to review my draft submission for the article CEN/TC 348 – Facility Management. I understand from your comment that the submission was declined due to insufficient support from reliable sources. I would greatly appreciate it if you could clarify which specific sources were considered unreliable or insufficient, or if there were other concerns that led to the rejection.

Since your first review, I have:

- revised the inline citation format according to WP:REFB and WP:CITE,

- ensured that all links are active and verifiable, and

- added references from independent, academically grounded sources (including sector-wide publications and research institutions).

As such, your latest reply confuses me somewhat, and I’m not sure what may still be missing at this stage.

If there are still aspects of the article that fall short of Wikipedia’s standards — such as tone, notability, or sourcing — I’d be very grateful for your guidance so I can address these and improve the draft accordingly before resubmission.

Thank you again for your time and support.

Best regards,

Enquiry about the issue of lack independent sources

edit

Hi Canon,

Hope you're doing well!

One of the main issues with my draft is the editors' feedback that it lacked multiple published sources, which has been mentioned several times in the comments.

In May of this year, art-K commissioned a research body to conduct research, which was subsequently covered by various famous press and newspapers, such as The Times and The Standard, etc. While art-K was only briefly mentioned in the report, I considered these sources to be reliable and independent.

In our new draft, we've provided more details about art-K and included these reports as references. Before we resubmit, I would like to seek your opinion on whether these sources meet the requirements and are suitable for supporting the subject of art-K. Any guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much! EHarper21 (talk) 10:02, 6 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Regan Garden

edit

On 9 August 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Regan Garden, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after losing a Shanghai mansion (pictured) to the Empire of Japan in World War II, British hotelier Victor Sassoon abandoned repossession plans following a communist takeover? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Regan Garden. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Regan Garden), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

My Wikipedia entry

edit

Dear CanonNi,

My Wikipedia entry/page ("Wolfgang Löscher") has a header that says "This article may have been created or edited in return for undisclosed payments, a violation of Wikipedia's terms of use. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies, particularly neutral point of view. (January 2022)".

What can I do that this header is removed?

Clarification on sourcing and notability for biographical edits

Hi CanonNi, thanks again for the welcome! I’ve already started making some edits and I’m trying to make sure I’m following the sourcing and notability guidelines correctly.
