Question from Linguistic Irregular (05:01, 20 August 2025)
edit- Note: Linguistic Irregular's mentor Isochrone is away.
Assigned? How useful. What do you do when you find an entirely corrupt statement in a major article. The article : “Haredi”aka “ultra-Orthodox Judaism” - the hideously inaccurate claim that Lubavicher Chassidm are Haredi, is on the level of saying “Roman Catholics are Protestants”. 1) No “modern Chassidic” movement can claim to be, or be claimed “ Haredi” - no matter what the movement’s propaganda. Chassidism is a mystical movement of followers of Israel Bal Shem. They practically founded a new faith (as all mystical movements are from their parent religion: primary source on Chassidism and Jewish mysticism, but not derrived opinion, Gershom Sholem, “Major Trends in Jewish Mysticism”, 1959, Schlocken Pub. Recent background: NY Times series on Chassidic (which the editors kept confusing with the “ultra-Orthodox” 2024. Personal coverage of the Skverer Chassidim in “New Square” Rockland Co. Ny hamlet for Westchester-Rockland Newspapers group (Gannett) 1985-6. Don’t bother with its morgue, in those years the activities of the Skeverers, a group connected/allied with the Satmar Chassidim of Brooklyn and Kyriat Joel,an incorporated and bigoted village in Orange County (try to buy a hiuse there if not a Chassid, often, if not a member of a Chassidic sect nit seen as connected with the Satmar) Opinion: Main-stream Judaism was roughly 3,000 to 3,500 years old before ha Bal Shem ( a portion of his followers’ title for him the Keeper of the Name - they add the final word “Tov”, “Good” to the end of his title, claiming he had a secret powerful name of his god, prowers similar to those the Bible attrbutes to Jesus's oof Nazarath, I refuse , was born, and founded a very Christian -influenced religion. Note Further: Wikipedia article on the Lubavich Chassidim: most considered its last genealogical chief rabbi, “The Messiah” and adopted a very Christian understanding of the word which translates “anointed (by followers) with oil” During the Solomonic-Davidic line of Judean (ctd) --Linguistic Irregular (talk) 05:01, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Linguistic Irregular: We strive to ensure that articles are written from a neutral point of view; as part of this, statements are generally given as fact if they are supported by the general consensus of reliable sources. If you believe that a statement in an article is incorrect or non-neutral, you can either boldly remove it (if another editor reverts your removal, it should be discussed on the talk page), or open a discussion on the talk page yourself to seek consensus first. If a change is relatively small and likely uncontroversial, the former may be preferable, and vice versa if the change is more major. If you are changing something that has been established by preexisting consensus (see if there have been previous discussions or related reversions in the history), you should try to discuss before making the change. Question from Linguistic Irregular (06:00, 20 August 2025)
edit- Note: Linguistic Irregular's mentor Isochrone is away.
Part 2 pick up from “Solomonic-Davidic” … Kings of Judea, there were re always 2 messiahim in Jerusalem, the “King- Messiah” and the Chief Priest Messiah, who, between them, held full political-religious power.Messiah didn’t mean “savior” at all - if one reads the Judaic Holy Scriptures” (the term Bible referrs only to the Christian holy book, calling the Judaic Holy Scriptures “the Jewish Bible” is like calling al-Quran “the Muslim Bible” - it’s not an insult, except to the writer’s knowledge. Calling the first book mentioned “the Old Testament” is an insult, for it is neither considered “old” by Jews, nor is it a Testament to anythung or anyone. The Jews regard their singular deity as the Savior who will review everyone’s life at the End of the World. The angel Gabrial will do the announsing, not a messiah. Judaism has been the source of several “false messiahs” who didn’t say “get ready for TEOWAKI” but led their followers into a lot of earthly trouble - Simon bar Kochba, who led all of his troops into the fortress atop Mt. Masada, was declared a messiah by his followers, and, according to Josephus Flavius war reporter/ historian, and they allegedly violated every Jewish law, Responsa, tradition, by ordering them all to kill themselves rather than be taken slave by Rome. Shabatai Zvi did the same in the Middle ages. Several dozen similar incidents have occurred in the past, making for a series of major corrections. The basic problem: sections on religions need be written from the point of view that author both accepts “common knowledge”and approaches the assignment is a US Christian and interpreters it from learning completely different from the subject and assumes words and concepts that mean one thing among them all, or is defending a minority with the statement made in the start of parr 1 of this plaintive cry. --Linguistic Irregular (talk) 06:00, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- I can't tell if you're posing a specific question here or adding more information to the previous one — if these are further changes that you'd like to make, I'd refer back to my previous reply. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 22:44, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
Question from The Marketing Ninja (07:19, 21 August 2025)
editHi, I have someone suspecting I get compensation for my edits because of my username is the name of a marketing agency which I was not aware of and am not connected to.
They believe I have been hired by said agency to promote professional wrestlers since I have only edited articles about professional wrestling.
What should I do? --The Marketing Ninja (talk) 07:19, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- It seems like this issue has already been resolved through discussion on your talk page; let me know if you have any further questions. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 22:45, 21 August 2025 (UTC)

- @CleanUp2025: Your edit to Clean Up Australia was reverted as it was heavily promotional, rather than being neutral and encyclopedic. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a venue for promotion; please do not add advertising or promotion. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 02:42, 27 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from CleanUp2025 (03:18, 27 August 2025)

Have i done the wrong thing or created an account in the incorrect manner? is this seens as a COI? --CleanUp2025 (talk) 03:18, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
- @CleanUp2025: Yes; this is definitely a conflict of interest. There's more information at the COI page I linked in the message on your talk; I would strongly encourage you to read it fully. Another issue is that your username is against Wikipedia policy, as detailed on your talk; please read the message there and follow the instructions to change your username if you wish to continue editing. Hi Tol,
You have been assigned by Wikipedia as my editing mentor - Nice to meet you! I have been dabbling in Wikipedia as a novice editor for three days now, and have a couple of questions. I come from a professional background in which I use hand-held photography and satellite and UAV imagery to provide context to articles which I have written, for various previous former employers over the past years. What I don't know is how to get past the attribution troll that refuses to let me use, for example, Google Earth or Maps imagery, with proper citation, in an edit. I won't lie and say the work is mine, though that seems to be the only way I can see to get the image admitted, so far. Can you help me with this issue?
Another question, how do I add things like my languages spoken to my User Page? BTW, I am NOT a strongly computer savvy guy, so please be gentle and pretty basic.
Thanks so much, Scott --Scott-Led (talk) 05:17, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
