Bill Anderson

Change all 2025 Masters (curling) links to 2025 Masters (January)
editHello! I'm wondering if somebody with AWB access could change all links to 2025 Masters (curling) to 2025 Masters (January) as there is another event of the same name that will take place in September. Thanks :) TracyFleuryFan (talk) 22:27, 3 August 2025 (UTC)

Add category header to a set of sub-categories
editHi. please replace everything except
with
on all level 2 subcategories of Category:Festivals by year and country, i.e. categories like Category:1981 festivals in South Korea (42 total). Thanks! Jeeputer Talk 20:09, 15 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Jeeputer: Can you please share some example replacements, for both this section and the section below? – DreamRimmer ■ 16:14, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
- @DreamRimmer: Sure! see Special:Diff/1308475213 for this section, and Special:Diff/1308475485 for the section below. Of course, the Commons category template and all its redirected titles should stay intact if present in the page. If it's difficult to exclude the commons category template, I can re-add the template after the job is done, as the number of categories to be edited is not that high. So you can only replace the whole contet (
.*
) with the category header template. Thank you! Jeeputer Talk 18:07, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

Tag pages containing text "utm_source=chatgpt.com" with Template:LLM
editPlease tag all pages containing the text "utm_source=chatgpt.com" with Template:LLM - it's reasonable to assume those who don't bother to read the URL of a reference they're inserting from a LLM haven't been thorough in reviewing its content. Thanks :) Epsilon.Prota talk 11:56, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Epsilon.Prota See Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Tasks/Archive 21#Tag LLM generated stuff. Sophisticatedevening(talk) 12:08, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Sophisticatedevening Understood, thanks for highlighting. I do think it's better to err on the side of caution when dealing with LLM-generated content on Wikipedia, but this isn't the right venue for that discussion. Epsilon.Prota talk 12:14, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
Eze
editPlease convert all links of Eze to Eze (Igbo). I moved the article from "Eze" to "Eze (Igbo)" and redirected "Eze" to "Eberechi Eze". Thanks. Alpha Beta Delta Lambda (talk) 10:35, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- Are we sure that the footballer is the primary topic and that all existing links refer to the king? A disambiguation page is another option. Certes (talk) 10:39, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- Pretty sure yes. Almost all reliable sources I can find are to the footballer and most of the remaining to repeated citations to the Bible; the footballer has about 100 times the views to the king (and 6 times to Ezekiel) since the start of the year. I check all mainspace links of "Eze" and they have nothing to do with the footballer. Alpha Beta Delta Lambda (talk) 11:02, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
Remove excess pipe character from |Peter Pan wikilinks
editMy mistaken use of DisamAssist has resulted in the creation of a number of wikilinks of the form
|Peter Pan
where <PP-link> might be any of
- Peter Pan (play and novel)
- Peter Pan (character)
- Peter Pan (1924 film)
- Peter Pan (1953 film)
- Peter Pan (pantomime)
The erroneous double-pipe needs to be reduced to a single pipe, so that the wikilinks (which work correctly) also display correctly. There are about 136 articles involved, some with multiple incorrect links. They are all updates by me on 26 Aug 2025. For an example, see Eiluned Lewis#Early life and education. -- Verbarson talkedits 14:12, 27 August 2025 (UTC)

insource:"last=Times |first=The"
editSearch for insource:"last=Times |first=The"
@DreamRimmer:. Polygnotus (talk) 12:52, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Polygnotus: Yes, there are 692 matches from the search, but what is the context? – DreamRimmer ■ 13:22, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- @DreamRimmer The context is that "Times" is not a common last name and "The New York" and "The Sunday" et cetera are not first names. Polygnotus (talk) 16:26, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- So, do you want me to replace these parameters with "publisher"? – DreamRimmer ■ 16:48, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- @DreamRimmer If the
|publisher=
parameter does not exist, then|first=
can be converted to|publisher=
and the word Times appended and the|last=
parameter can be removed. Not sure how difficult that is. Another approach would be to simply remove the|first=
and|last=
parameters and then fill in the|publisher=
parameter from the URL. That would require making a list of the values of|first=
where the|last=
is Times, deduplicating, and then looking at which URLs you can add the|publisher=
to. Polygnotus (talk) 16:51, 28 August 2025 (UTC)- Thanks for explaining it. I have chosen to use the first approach you suggested. I noticed some parameters like
|last=Times |first=Jay Walz Special To the New York
, so what should be done with this type of value? – DreamRimmer ■ 17:41, 28 August 2025 (UTC)- @DreamRimmer That one occured once. I fixed it manually. You can't even blame Zotero for that because it is in the source. There might be more weird ones in there, in which case the only solution is probably to fix them manually. Thank you! Polygnotus (talk) 17:49, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- I can prepare a list of all these parameters in your userspace if you would like, so that you can fix the unusual ones manually and then I can handle the rest semi-automatically. If you prefer, I can also provide the full cite template on a page where these parameters are being used. – DreamRimmer ■ 17:56, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- @DreamRimmer Thank you I love lists! Either is fine I think. Polygnotus (talk) 17:57, 28 August 2025 (UTC)

insource:"Special To the New York"
(2,388 results) Polygnotus (talk) 08:23, 29 August 2025 (UTC)- There are only a few unusual names in the batch we are processing, so if you have gone through the list I shared and corrected anything that does not look like a proper publisher name after merging the first and last names, I can proceed with the replacements. – DreamRimmer ■ 10:14, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- @DreamRimmer I am currently working on the insource:"Special To the New York" stuff I'll let you know when that is done. Or you can continue, just skip anything that contains "Special To the New York" Polygnotus (talk) 10:15, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, and
insource:"Special Cable To the New York"
, case insensitive. Polygnotus (talk) 10:39, 29 August 2025 (UTC)- I have made some replacements and would like you to review them, just to confirm that they match what you want, as I want to be careful. – DreamRimmer ■ 10:40, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Note that The Sunday Times and The Times are the same newspaper for reasons beyond my understanding.
- Hm, looking at Alla Pugacheva, if you have both the
|website=
and|publisher=
it looks like this: - [1]

- Template:Cite_web#Publisher says:
Do not use the publisher parameter for the name of a work (e.g. a website, book, encyclopedia, newspaper, magazine, journal, etc.).
andOmit where the publisher's name is substantially the same as the name of the work (for example, The New York Times Co. publishes The New York Times newspaper, so there is no reason to name the publisher).
- I think you don't have to add a |publisher= if there is already a
|work=
or|website=
or|journal=
,|newspaper=
,|magazine=
or|periodical=
. I can probably write something that finds duplicate paras and deals with 'em. Polygnotus (talk) 10:51, 29 August 2025 (UTC)- I have fixed that edit and updated the code so that it skips adding the publisher whenever any of the parameters you mentioned are present. To be on the safer side, I am not checking whether the parameter values are the same and am skipping them directly. I am relying only on you, so I will keep it paused for a few more hours, and if you have any other conditions to add, please let me know. – DreamRimmer ■ 11:07, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
