Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical)
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.

edit- PokéPark (amusement park) → PokéPark (move · discuss) – No consensus for the move or creation of a DAB page, which was incorrectly done as all the other entries are WP:PTM. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 12:35, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Zxcvbnm You're a page mover, you can revert the move yourself. Tenshi! (Talk page) 14:01, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Tenshi Hinanawi: there's no rule against page movers listing entries here rather than just moving unilaterally - it's often a good idea if there might be some doubt about the matter or if a second pair of eyes is needed. Personally I sometimes list things on this page myself even though I'm an admin, for example to avoid getting into a WP:Move war if I've already reverted something already, or if I'm not certain if it's uncontroversial. In this case it's useful because I've raised a small query about it below. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 14:08, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

, which was why I contested this, though I'm unsure that was right now. Tenshi! (Talk page) 14:14, 29 August 2025 (UTC)- I have moved this request back to its original section. Tenshi! (Talk page) 21:02, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

- Hi @Zxcvbnm: if you insist upon reverting this and having an RM instead, then of course that's your prerogative, but FWIW I agree with the decision to change this to a disambiguation page. Looking at page views up to when the move was made on 14 August, there is really not much to choose between the four topics listed - [1] - and I don't think the fact that it's the only entry called just PokéPark should automatically make the park (which only existed for less than a year in the mid 2000s, and whose official name was actually "Pokémon The Park 2005" rather than "PokéPark ") the primary topic. The other entries could all legitimately be called simply "PokéPark" as well and would be primary redirects if they were the sole topic. Are you sure you wish to go ahead? Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 14:05, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I personally believe it is wrong. If the mover believes otherwise they can start an RM. Also, I list things here for the precise reason you described, to avoid potential move wars. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 19:23, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

- @WikiCleanerMan: You should be able to revert these on your own. See WP:MOR. When reverting, you should explain why you disagree substantively with the change. ~ Jenson (SilverLocust 💬) 04:10, 31 August 2025 (UTC)

edit- Nineveh Governorate → Ninawa Governorate (currently a redirect back to Nineveh Governorate) (move · discuss) – I'm seeking to revert a 13-year undiscussed page move that has now been contested because I do not believe Nineveh is currently a WP:COMMONNAME. It isn't even used by locals there. Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 07:05, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

- Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Kenya → Federation of Women Lawyers (move · discuss) – disambiguation not needed. 2A02:C7C:4D0A:A500:D166:DA64:AC83:4F4B (talk) 09:44, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- The current article title definitely needs to be fixed, but I'm seeing several different spellings of the group's name in various sources, such as FIDA Kenya, Fida Kenya, and Fida-Kenya. The article is also unclear on whether they are affiliated with International Federation of Women Lawyers which uses the Spanish acronym "FIDA", though they probably are affiliated. This request may cause confusion with the article for the international group; see also All India Federation of Women Lawyers. The title of this article should probably be Federation of Women Lawyers - Kenya though I'm not sure if that's optimal. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:14, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- This is likely to need a full move discussion. Some of these groups may be affiliated with the International Federation of Women Lawyers and some may not. Anyway I don't see the rationale for omitting the word 'Kenya' from the article title. The group in Kenya is clearly not the only Federation of Women Lawyers in the world.
